There really isn't an american singing accent... Listen to La Roux's songs. they are british but they have an average "american" sounding sound.

You're pretty close minded if you think they're language accent is goign to be the same singing. Singing blends the sounds and when you vary notes on words, it is going to sound a general "sounding." Exceptions are slang words/slang spelling, like in country.
