Trust me everyone, if someone has the hacks "item abuse" and "item abuse 2" it will take more than 1 million savestates and loadstates to beat the 2 hacks listed above
@jihu1011 Well, these are for the most part all item-related glitches (walljumps weren't originally intended for that boss, you were supposed to shelljump like I was).
@shadowtroop121 Tools often used in TASing are frame advance (playing the game frame by frame), slowdown, savestates, RAM watch, and lua scripting. All of these are included with Snes9x, but ZSNES only contains the first three (though its frame advance is horrible).
Who is creating these "Item Abuse" levels? Why can't they create like a new super mario world, just like the old one, but even better? And funnier? And maybe just a little bit more difficult and with like 50 different levels. That would be awesome!
@MizukiNorito No, TAS is an abbreviation for "Tool-Assisted Speedrun" (or "Tool-Assisted Superplay") which means the game was played by an actual person, but with tools to assist them in the process (such as slowing the game down, or rewinding the game when mistakes are made).
Omg! It should still be VERY difficult managing to do this Item Abuse SR with the tool. I mean, it must take ages to find out about every glitch, and rewind like 10.000 times before you get one thing right. You must be a pretty good Marioplayer, and know very much about the game, right?
@MizukiNorito Oh man, if we had programs that would play this well, we'd be talking to sentient robots by now. I've seen awesome mario playing programs before, but compared to the ingenuity and inventiveness of this, those are childsplay. The one trick I did see those programs do is jumping off of a wall when mario would fall into a pit from going too fast and not seeing enough information to make better decisions early.
I was just wondering. At 4:20, keeping the green yoshi with u instead of throwing him to the lava, wouldn't save u a lot of frames? I mean, it wouldn't be necessary to grow that yellow baby yoshi.
By the way, at 4:01, after the wall-jumps, isn't it possible to stand on the highest solid block (as you did), and then jump to the next wall, do some wall-jumps and then jump to the floor? So u don't need to use the stuck in the ceiling glitch, and also keep the green yoshi with ya.
By the way, what's the general technique for the oft-used trick at 2:40? I can tell you press backward at some point but it's tough to tell exactly what you do. Also, does it require TAS precision or is it pretty doable on the console?
I'm trying to find some glitches to play with on the SNES, but I'm not sure which ones are remotely possible for human reflexes alone.
@acr1ter Well, its most likely not easy on a console, but it involves reaching sprinting speed, turning around for a single frame (and then quickly building your speed back to max so Mario doesn't turn back around), and then pressing right and releasing Y/X on the same frame, near the peak of Mario's jump. If you build up your speed to max again, Mario will bounce off the shell.
As for glitches on the SNES, theres a thread on SMWCentral about glitches you can look at.
@Waynebird22 No, I don't have it anymore (had to delete it to make some room on my computer). I believe it was very close to 2500 by the time the first room was finished, though. YouTube shows it was a little before 0:42, which is around 2520 frames. But YouTube is sometimes a little fast, so it may be less.
Also, if you got 980, its not really surprising. The part with the Koopas was rather unoptimized, and I was only like 5 frames away from 980 anyway.
Omg, lol wut the fuck just happen? Lol wut the fuck is happening! I was so amazed, confused, and suprised at how many glitches you can find in smw (of lunar magic) I have so much to ask you, but im too disconfadent In my self to ask you. What amazed my the most is at 4"57 when you popped out two yoshis, and managed to make those to youshi spawning blocks to keep on giving you live!!! What the fuck! (in a super super good way!!!) Im mean so friggin awesome ly cool, i donno what else to say!!!
@Kaizoman666 well, i liked how you knew how you could jump on everything! but i didnt know you could jump on p switchs. I really liked the thing you did with the super shells on 1:43 but how could you pick it up? My most curiosity was how you made lots of thing completly invisable that arent supossed to be! Is that some sort of custom sprite? That is really my most curious questions right now... thanx for replying too!
@killerwrath98 With the shells at 1:43, you can pick up a Koopa as it is entering a shell. If you throw the shell up right before the Koopa comes out, the Koopa will disappear from it. Doing it with a disco shell (the ones that change colors) will make a portable disco shell, which you can carry anywhere you want until you throw it.
As for invisible things, I don't quite understand what you mean. If you mean the Yoshi, its because there is supposed to be only one Yoshi onscreen at a time.
@Kaizoman666 then the invisable plant was just aflfuke on 1:35? probably sprite limit. Anyway i understand everything you said in the last comment and i will try to grab a 'disco' shell by doing what you said. thanks! great video! Great person! But it should have a lot more veiws then it should!! ^_^
@killerwrath98 Invisible? You mean when the block appeared out of nowhere? Thats another glitch, known as the "Block Factory" glitch. Basically, if you hit any type of animating block (? blocks, turn blocks, note blocks, or glass block) in the right place, the block will copy to either the side, diagnally, or upwards, depending on where and when you hit it.
Anyway, good luck with the disco shell. Be sure not to hold it for too long, or Mario will die!
Stupid glitches... especially that portable disco glitch
Great TAS overall. At least the breaks weren't horrendous, unlike the first Item Abuse. Watching this gave me some more level ideas for the next level of World Of Pain too ^^.
And for anyone of you who care, he did the boss the way I suggested, where you keep shell-jumping-juggling instead of wall-jumping.
Its not in this hack but what happens is, "you do the thing at 4:05-4:10 at the exact point in an underground upside down corner and it teleports you thru the ground, i idd it on the Super Nintendo but i wasnt recording it so i will try to show you in a video soon its pretty funny

@Kaizoman666 What tools would those be? Are they built into SNES9x?

Chuck Norris can make this on live, without using TAS, only with the mouse and in less time.

@ 5:46
What keys are you pressing to go through that small space while holding an item?
Sixcorby 11 months ago
@Sixcorby Basically, just tapping down. You have to be going upwards at a high enough speed that pressing down for a frame won't move you too much.

@lucasdiv2010 Nah. The baby Yoshi will screw up the already grown Yoshi, making him unable to do the P-switch duplication glitch.
And nor for the second one. The entire ceiling is solid (underground ceilings are not walkthroughable), so I'd just be stuck up there.

@Kaizoman666
Uh, Ok. Anyway, I'm already beating u by 28 game seconds.
