@markorfi Well, I never played a Ti yet, my Indigos are models B and C and they sound so close to each other. I can't help you between Ti and early models, sorry.
I've used 5 Virus KC's (2002-2005), 2 Virus TI's (2005-2006), 1 Virus TI2 (2009) and now currently use the Virus TI2 WhiteOut Limited Edition version. I can speak with some authority on this...
The Virus TI2 is definitely the best sounding - the upgraded converters and increased internal resolution *really* help set it apart. The detail of the oscilators, the modulations, the effects and the filters really become magical....
You may have heard some people say the Virus A/B/C sounds 'warmer, punchier and fatter' than the TI. This is total drivel...and I imagine its done to keep the B's prices higher on eBay. Any perceived differences between the B and TI version will be as a result of whether the patch being auditioned uses the internal EQ effect. EQ was abscent on the B and only introduced on the C in OS6....
I recall many sound designers 'experimenting' with the new EQ when it was first released. Many sound designers released banks which were varied, wild and extreme. There are 100's of sounds out there which use too much EQ - the result being a slightly distorted, colder, thinner type sound. I have imported Virus B patches into my TI and there is no difference other than the benefits of better resolution/dacs etc. My tip would be to switch the EQ setting off now and again ;)
@DIGITALSCREAMS Would you recommend the TI? I am coming into a chunk of change and (because it goes to fast) I am going to invest in a few synths and other pieces of gear... The Ti is one and of course a moog voyager and an old oberheim , if I can find it. Thanks and best holiday wishes...peace
As far a modern day synths are concerned the Virus TI is the best sounding and most versatile. I have no hesitation in recommending it. I also use the Moog Voyager Old School and Sequential Prophet 5, Roland Juno 60 and Jupiter 8 etc. Check out my page if you havent done so already and listen to some clips. Check out my 'Favourites' and you'll see a bunch of awesome Oberheim synth clips by a Japanese guy. I've never used an Oberheim personally, but im sure they'd be AWESOME.
The first 3 seconds told me all I wanted to know, I am a fan. Wanna bet we are from the same Star system? I am working on a full review and hope to have it posted on my page soon. It will take a while to really wrap my mind around what I am hearing. Great Job Ran
Nice work Ran, gentle flowing and meditative. A style of music that I should compose more of. Cheers ObeeLektro, Electronic music composer and pianist.
Hi Ran. Beautiful soundscape. I just love the way you patiently wait to let the sound evolve. By the way, I did get my modular system and absolutly love it. You would like the Livewire AFG VCO. Very organic sounding with lots of modulation.
Thank you man, and great news that about the modular!! I feel very tempted to get one of those great AFG oscilators for my system too. I'm anxious to see you tweaking your modular ;)
WOW!
Love your music. Thank you for sharing this.
