Grew up listening to Prince Lincoln. My favorite singer hands down. Wonderful cover, I'm sure he'd enjoy it too. Gotta jam some more of his classics right now actually.
How good and how pleasant it is to hear reggae being sung by non-reggae singers. It means reggae is reaching out and and being embraced by others---and that's a good thing. Love and respect to all reggae originators.
@yannithegreat there's nothing racist about what i said. simply tired of white jewish americans running around with dreadlocks, smoking weed, and talking about being a LION from ZION. so stereotypical. until they hit 30-35 and then become a lawyer or accountant as their parents wanted.
chuuuune! I gots to ask how de hell my man know dis Royal Rasses righteous music. When I moved to NY, outside of my Brooklyn JA posse brothers didn't know about the Rasses
Wow! I saw John Legend performing this on the Jool's Holland Show. I must admit I have never payed much attention to his music, but when heard this cover version I was blown away by his voice which encapsulated the vibe perfectly but also the bassline, it's beautiful.
@NicGonzalez1 same here - after his first album I kinda lost interest but this collaboration is def working. His smooth vocals and The Roots melodies (thought they were a hip hop band someone correct me if I'm wrong) go together like hand in glove
Big up BBW for a givin us a little somethin different :-)
Ficking thru the channels with my remote when by shear luck, stumble across him performing this track on 'Later' with Jools Holland, and I've been searching for it since ...thanks for posting, excellent stuff.
@browningbbw I agree.i had to find/listen to who wrote this amazing song after i heard this. Lincolns version is better. This is amazing thought.could be considered just as good as the original for many people. The recording job the roots/legend did is just amazing from the drums to the vocals. Questlove shines as a producer/drummer on this song and not enough could be said about the rest of the roots and legend. Thumbs up to lincoln for writing this gem and to these guys for doing a great cover
The Legendary Roots Crew can rock any style! I've always like The Roots, but after hearing this and their newest album, they climb back up as my favorite Hip Hop band of all time.
