I've lived in iron mountain for 14 of my 15 years. It's really pretty and will always be the place I was raised, but it is so boring. Nothing to do. At all. Good place to vacation, not to live
Ah, my hometown (six days till I can go back for break). This video is a great representation of the natural beauty Iron Mountain-Kingsford has to offer...however, we certainly are more developed than the video let on. :) All the same, if you're watching this and thinking, "What a pretty, peaceful town," you're very much on the mark.
I've lived in Iron Mountain/Kingsford most of my life, and recognize almost every spot in the video. Well-done video, I think. It's not desolate or lonely here; our suicide rate is NOT high. It's the kind of place where if I forget to bring money with me to the local grocer, they'll just let me charge it and pay later. It's a very-friendly area.
For decades, the Pine Mountain Ski Jump was the largest man-made ski jump on the planet. Kingsford Charcoal started here, too. Lots of history.
I live there... and this video makes the town a better place... Lol.. seriously.
Did you know that actually Christopher Johnson Mcandles's family was from Iron Mt? which is kind of crazy that you used this song.. and also referenced the fact that it was from the movie Into the wild.. which is one of my favorite movies...
Great Video, and good job with the shots... and like you said.... the magic bullet= i like how you washed out the color... looks so good :)
Where I grew up. Live down in GA now though. I used to ride down that skijump landing on my snowboard back in the day. Looks a lot smaller now haha. It's really not as desolate as it appears to be, but yeah - that time of year does look really depressing though. Come back in the summer.
I left Iron Mountain in the fall of 1997 and my last visit home was in 2004. It took me the better part of a decade to realize that Iron Mountain is a gift and a sanctuary for those who cherish it. Very few places are as straightforward and true.
Iron Mountain is one of the few places that the rest of the world has overlooked, and this is a true blessing.
To those of you that have never left know that you are living in a paradise that most people dream of as their eternal reward.
I really liked this ...you captured the natural side of Iron Mountain. Although, a couple of shots of small/quaint downtown area would have been a nice touch
No adapter. Although I need one badly. I shot from the distance for the most part. But for the close ups I used the "Edge Softness" tool under the "Lens" tab in Magic Bullet Looks. I colored most of it with "Mishandled Negative" with Magic Bullet Looks. I love what it does to the color.
Hey man, Awesome job! Were using a 35mm adaptor on your camera? Which Magic Bullet filter did you use? Some of the jump cuts were pretty quick, but overall you made a very good video :)
Yay for my hometown!

It looks so desolate and lonely. Maybe this is a great life, but not for me.
