  • ke jalada como se ke esuna ps3 ke mal video

  • y waist time trying to get windows on a ps3 if its not built for it? too bad someone couldnt recreat something better then windows.

  • so if i understand, in dis video ps3 is using linux first, and second emulating win xp!?

but why using linux first and not directly emulating xp?

  • Why the hell would you put windows on a PS3??? I mean Really.... Who does that??

  • wow, amazing what a pile of shit a ps3 really is.

  • @Jonsperanza Hm? The PS3 has a 3.2GHz PPC processor with 8 SPEs also clocked at 3.2GHz. It's so ridiculously powerful, the military chained a bunch of these together to make one of the world's most powerful supercomputers. The reason Windows doesn't run so well on it is because it's built for x86 processors, which the PS3 doesn't have, so it has to emulate a processor, which means the SPEs can't be used either.

If you think the PS3 is shit because of this video... you know fuck all about PCs.

  • @MrEmmyMertrelli erm.. 1 i work with computers.. its my job and 2. your a gimp x

  • @Jonsperanza In that case, you should have no problem telling me why it's "a piece of shit" without resorting to name calling.

  • @Jonsperanza great, yet another troll that has an xbox 360

  • what is the name of this song

  • @hacklife91191

I believe it's called, "In thy description, thou findeth the name"

  • stack 40 of them together and you'll have a half decent machine :P

  • No offence but what the F*** is this vid about?

  • so how come the PS3 rocks for games but sucks for anything else?

  • @cjellwood it has somesort of dedicated chip, guesing dedicated GPU

  • Can this still be done without the "Install other operating system" option?

    Patch = fail

  • the ps3 is basically a super cpu that is blocked from its full potential.

  • @mikee1333 yeah and that makes me rather mad.

  • WIndows only has access to 1 core :( and it has to emulate like 50000 things

  • a PS3 running linux running windows xp = epicness

  • @SquirlKiller For me linux running windows xp=FAIL, because the ps3, Xbox 360 or Wii are made for play games not to install linux or another OS on it, for that kinds of things exist the PC

  • @sebacruzar

    Becuz you suck.

  • @sebacruzar well then again tho u do have to think game systems r computers sometime more powerful ones at that the ps3 would be a better computer if it werent for the ram

  • its called broken retard

  • what song is this? it's really good.

  • seether- broken

  • I have a question though , after all of this OS is install , and u have windows running on your ps3 , will it do the same as a computer ? can I stream videos from any website without any problems ? Can I just click on any stuff and install it to my ps3 hdd ?

Whats the difference from a windows on a computer an the one on your ps3 ?

  • yea dont worry all your pornsites will still work

  • @ashleyfyffe09 its not actually on his computer he is just using a virtual pc so it will be able to do everything u want it to slowly but it will download stuff to its VHD (virtual hard disk) so u will not be able to acess it from your ps3, i recommend if ur gonna do this u just stick to pup linux

  • wtf does dis do

  • I can run windows 7 on an edison cylinder!!!

  • will this work with the slim ps3?

  • no, thats one of the features the slim lost

  • NO WAY!! sucks! i wanted to do this in my PS3 slim... sucks ass!! so how can I install XP.. my goal is to run MAME in my PS3.. that way I don't have to switch between my PC and PS3 to play SF3, SFIV

  • Sony removed the ability to install Linux on the PS3 Slim...no workaround at all. Since they sell the machine at a loss, it was no longer worth selling any for those who only wanted it for that purpose.

Also, there's a native MAME (and other emulators) for PS3 Linux...no need to run it under any Windows emulation.first. It's NICE! ;-)

  • If I do this will I still play online and games on the PS3?

  • yep

  • @CommonEnt yeah but not throgh fedora, you have to log out of fedora to get back on the normal ps3 OS

  • BROKEN by siether

  • seether

  • whats the song ( im on my ps3 now) X )

  • hello on the ps3 slim 's a way to put linux?

  • No it works just with the Phat Ps3.

  • :P still waiting for my linux to finish

i have a rather fast computer so it only took me bout 30 mins

  • Is there another way to load MP3s onto a ipod touch using the PS3? is there a native linux program that will transfer MP3s to a iphone or ipod touch?

OMG itunes sucks and with the very low amount of RAM itunes is the worse program for low ram.

  • dude, these are like old computers

they have 2 gigs of ram and go 5 frames per day XD

thats why there basically only used for emulations :P

  • 2gig of ram is modern

  • huh? its like linux but running xp in linux? why the hell do that, just do basic linux

  • beacuse its faster

  • windows has a ton of games like halo

  • I think that installing xp or osx is stupid. Use linux, it will run faster... faster than all the anothers, because this linux is native for ps3, and mac and xp are emulations from linux...

  • i am have a problem getting wireless to work on yellow dog 6.1 ps3 any help will be appreciated.

  • Wrong, Windows came out before Linux

  • jajajajajajajajajaja

    Please, stop joking...

unix and linux came out before windows 3.11...

    and ms-dos are not windows...

  • I bet it can't emulate a ps3 on windows :P

  • i wudnt be so sure get the latest ati overclocked or nividia card and some new ram u can work wonders with about 300 quid using ebay ;)

  • yea i meant can't emulate a ps3 on windows on a ps3 :P still cool though :P

  • lol the pspcps3

  • ;P yea

  • no you dipshit, the ps3 runs the cell, windows doesnt support the cell, only x86/x64, so the vitual pc needs to emulate all that, that's why it's so slow....

  • can i ask a insane question this was a tech rumour about sony on msn that saddam hussian ordered ps2s to make a supercomputer capable of launching missiles ? im curios

  • microsoft is competing with the playstation, so be weary of what their private "news" agency says.

  • I wouldn't doubt it.

  • its totally true amigo!! allah akbar!

  • did you know that docter's use the ps3 in there labs because of its high speed PS : they said that ps3 is 2 time faster as a computer

  • I thought they used it because its the fastest computer for $300.

  • also the military buys ps3's

  • @quailde250 yup thats right they contorl uav's with them and there controlers

  • @KEOO8 YOUR CRAZY ITS A TV ADVERT SHOWING HOW YOU CAN USE YOUR EVERYDAY SKILLS IN THE ARM THEY DONT REALLY USE JOYPADS YOU FULL ON RETARDS

  • @MrTickleMyWilly MY DADSFRIEND WORKS IN THE ARMY I THINK I KNOW WHAT HE SAID

  • @KEOO8 Lol then your dadsfriends a retard LOL!

  • @MrTickleMyWilly Ay! I'm not a retard

  • @Saimone008 YES SIR! !

  • @MrTickleMyWilly I was only joking YOU FAG KNOW GIVE 50,000 PUSH UP YOU LITTLE GIRL.

  • i havent slept in 24hours....my body hurts....whaat happens when you install this on your PS3

  • Is there a easy way to format the 40gig ps3 i have nd just install xp without lynix OS thing

  • No, It's impossible just to directly boot windows from the ps3. it's like me saying is it possible to play videos on a standard mp3 player.

  • windows cant run on power pc natively it can only emulated inside linux.

  • Forget about that becouse ps3 is not a x86 architecture ;]

  • the song sounds wierd, as if it was som other singer

  • It's from their "One Cold Night" CD/DVD. An acoustic set.

  • oo ok

  • sony has got a team that worked on a linux version for the ps3 (and ps2) so no , it doesn't have to be a emulateted linux in fact it can be a "normal" linux version

  • can you play pc games on it

  • the cpu usage of taskmanager is around 40% and the harddisk is 500 mb.yes , you can play crysis on max graphics

  • it doesnt matter if you want or not.. it is for the KICK, THAT WE CAN RUN windows on a PS3 ;)

  • dude that would b badasss man dat would doulb da games on ps3 the i would trade in my 360

  • dat is true, neways da ps3 pwn da 360 da ppl dat bawt da 360 is in shame, innit guvnor

  • Could you type that in english?

  • u wear frilly knickers

  • ok? whats the difference beetween the 360 and ps3.and what makes it so superior to the 360

  • The PS3 has built in wifi, the ability to urn linux, blu-ray a web browser... so much more :D

  • PS3 is more like a computer, online gaming is free, graphics are better (I find, it's arguable though, I have both & prefer the ps3's look); to put it frank, it's much more user friendly and allows you to do what you wish.

  • linux isnt emulated on to the ps3 but XP is

  • if u can have windows on ps3 can u play pc games on it?

  • Maybe :O I wonder how GMOD would be like :P

  • onyl good thing is the song but who would want windows ont heir ps3 it looks like it would take foreva tbh and slow like its showing lets be honest ps3 is summit totaly different than windows windows work with wondows sony works on sony its pointless

  • I used a tutorial to get it and the only reason its a bit slow is cause u choose how much ram u want to use, and i think some people are too scared to make it a big number (like me) saying it can F**k up your ps3, so then i didnt wanna try

  • hey after doing all this what can i do with it and can i go back to my ps3 menue and how much memory dose this take sorry cuz of the spelling im typing super fast

  • ps3 have 3.2ghz of cpu speed, its better that a normal pc.

  • It's PowerPC, It takes a lot of power for the cell processor to emulate x86.

It's like trying to emulate a old Mac on a pentium d.

  • That's just stupid.

Now are you going to tell me a 3.2GHz P4 is better then a 1.8GHz i7?

  • You obviously don't know much about multi-core processors, blazinhomo.

  • I don't think you know who I was responding to. firefox glitch.

  • broken - seether

  • The song is a live version of Broken by Seether Featuring Amy Lee from Evanescence.

  • the song ??? thanks...

  • hey guys i put the real windows vista on my ps3 its not an emulator if anyone wants to know how to do it send me a message i will tell u

  • how can we do it

  • ok it worked for me, heres what you do have linux booted up on your ps3 have a microsoft os aka win98 that is compatibal with non mircosoft os and load it up and install it then once windows is running get windows vista and load it up but if you dont want to put vista on it get the theme of the internet and use that it will run faster than the real vista on there message me for more dicripsions

  • yes please i would like to know.

  • You can Vista doens't run on PPC plataforms.

  • well it not really vista its windows 98 os but it looks like vista and acts like vista basicly a theme

  • show me how and how much space does it take on the hard drive

  • 2:41 for the best bit.

  • What to you call this song .

  • I thought that the PS3 would load linux faster considering that it cranks out two teraflops

  • its got barely any RAM though. the power is mainly in the GPU

  • I think that you should try Yellow Dog linux. Its kernel is optimized to use all 8 cores on the cell and I have seen it demonstrated on the PS3 and it loads a lot faster.

  • my mate uses linux on his PS3, but i already have a PC so its not like i need to kit my PS out as one too. i have fiends who run linux on theirs :). only modification i'll do to mine is give it bigger HDD probablt

  • I've read and seen people saying, that the price you pay to be able to install an OS on the PS3 is that Sony locks the hardware at a lower speed for whatever reason.

NOW, IF ONLY SOMEONE *wink wink* finds out how to unlock the full PS3 power when installing Linux. Maybe someone will create an OS from teh ground up and create custom drivers etc. I've seen someone asking why they're custom Linux Kernal crashes after awhile. but no one has answered yet. maybe in a few years........

  • too bad the video card has some kinda security feature :(

  • yes on paper and in Kutaragis dreams ;] .

  • maybe you can upgrade RAM in this machine? buy sppare boken PS3's just for the bits inside?

  • nice man and nice song whats the name?

  • ha nice once you installed it can you then play pc games on a ps3 please reply some one

  • no u cant idiot

  • luzen imeh unong del?

  • hey guys whats the reason to install a new operating system on ps3 when you c that it is too slow????

  • if your computer breaks you have you ps3 as a backup.

  • simples answer: geekness.

  • well thats easy. because we can.

  • its not too slow if you use the latest yellow dog linux (instead of trying to emulate windows on ubuntu) there is alot of reasons why people might want to do this, for example, for me, it comes in handy when the gf kidnaps the pc and i dont wanna play ps3 games, i can just boot up my linux and get myself back to a pc if i need it, its good to have in the house, sya my pc breaks down, i will still be able to contact my friends online, and sit here posting crap on youtube!!

  • THANKS!!!

  • i'm installing it and it works thanks

  • i did the same thing but its not working for me i enter the same command which u did but its say bad command. on linux yellow dog 6....any idea???

  • Hello All ,

I have Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 Installed on my PS3.

but i dont know how i can install VMware,WineHQ or Qemu (kqemu to) i dont know how to do it, can some one make a tut for me and maybe other ppl to?

i realy apperiecte it if sum1 tel it me:)

  • hey can you play mmorpgs on the ps3 with this...(sorry if this may be a stupid question)

  • You could stream whatever you playing on your PC through your PS3, so in a sense you could be be! But logically no its not possible!

  • you could, however when Wine(win32 emulator) did actually come to yellow dog linux, then you could use 3danalyser to emulate your 3dcard. but i think you rather get a pc instead. 256 ram this thing is not design to be a real PC

  • I believe it because Microsoft doesn't admit technical limitations like that unless many people have butt up against it.

I think with that last comment you've revealed yourself to be woefully ignorant on a massive level, so I need not comment further.

  • Oh, and Windows 95 doesn't support DX9. Faggot.

  • Who should I believe? Microsoft, the creators of FAT16? Or someone with "FaggotCrap" in their name?

I suggest you look closely at your partition type on your machine, then kill yourself.

  • Anybody can look up for themselves the maximum partition size for FAT16. I believe it is Microsoft KB118335. No controller card can raise the maximum size of a partition, only the addressing of a hard drive.

  • For the last damn time:

    1. "Pre-IE" versions of Windows 95 only supported FAT16.

    2. FAT16 has a maximum partition size of 2 GB in Windows 95.

    3. There are only 24 available mountpoints (drive letters in Windows 95). A and B are reserved for floppies.

    4. 24 * 2 GB = 48 GB mximum in a pre-IE Windows 95.

Your only making yourself look like an idiot to anyone who actually works with computers. I really suggest you find a hobby besides trolling YouTube videos.

  • Windows 95 has been exploited more than likely 1000000 times by now, surely a commercial server with any hope of stability or security would run on something based on NT.

And 95 does crash and did we forget to mention it does not support more than 127GB due to File System limitations and does not support more than 1GB of ram.

So unless your running some home text document server.

    No way in hell.

    TROLL

  • Does by SNAP and open stuff mean notepad or actual full scale programs that people use.

Leave alone games but CGI programs like 3d studio max or photoshop.

Ah but sure MS Paint in windows 95 can beat the crap out of photoshop.

Your just either poor and pissed off or a troll

  • You don't understand anything about technology, do you? What the "Promise cards" you refer to do is supply a BIOS that support LBA48 addressing (drives larger than 127 GB). File systems still have definite size limitations. FAT16 has an official limit of 2 GB, and an unofficial one of 4 GB. That's all. Given a large enough disk, sure, you could make a whole bunch of partitions. But you can't add up to 1 TB using FAT16, which is what you must have been using with your "Pre-IE" Windows 95.

  • 1. I'm not paying $2,000 for one of your shitty "40 MHz" servers.

    2. Windows 95 without Internet Explorer only supported FAT16. The absolute maximum partition size of FAT16 (with 64k clusters) is 4 GB.

  • 1. Nobody in their right mind would ever run Windows 95 on a server.

    2. Windows 95 doesn't support hard drives in the terabyte range.

    3. Go kill yourself.

  • Who the crap cares if it can run, its nice...can I play Windows games on the PS3 with it?

  • with OMG lag, yes. at least u can play srb2...with a green sonic

  • and still ps3 games work on it !?

  • lolz NOW theres a port of:

    SADX PC

    Any dreamcast game

    SRB2JTE

    any pc app

    to the PS3!

Yes ive tried this. it actually works! =D XD

  • lol, yea. I'm commenting you right now from Windows\ running through Linux, and Crysis is playing in the background (if you were too stupid to notice, it's sarcasm). You haven't tried a anything, because that wouldn't work. While running linux, the ps3 restricts access to the gpu, so that means no fun, or games for you.

  • there's still SRB2, which doesn't use the GPU at all. XD

  • yea, you'll have alot of fun with that judging by the speed of the video, lol. As for the other games you mentioned, I didn't even see your point. Oh, and they wouldn't be called ports, because they aren't actually ported to the OS itself.

  • no seriously, i works with little lag XD but SOME graphical glitchies. Sonic is GREEN?

  • I'd like it to be explained to me on how SRB2 will run with little lag when Windows itself is laggy on the PS3, lol. Have you tried running it in Wine?

  • cnt believe ppl fall for that love bullshit

  • mugen will come to the ps3 ,yes!!!!!

  • mugen is the ultimate 2d fighter

  • i cant wait until they break this barrier.

    pc gaming=ps3 gaming?

  • does it mean i can run win 3.11 speedily ?

  • If by speedily you mean at less than half the speed of a pentium 386 then yes.

The cell is not compatible with OS X or windows and no matter how efficient qemu becomes it will never be fast enough.

  • I don't why windows can't run on the cpu not the cell but the cpu that manges the resores to the parts of the cell

  • because the cell processor is a PPC like on older Macs with additional processing slaves

Windows NT 3.5 and 4.0 supported PPC

  • next time try windows xp legacy

  • Can you just install Windows XP itself onto the system?

Maybe like disguise it as Linux and trick it into installing or something?

Then if they just make GPU drivers, it is a very powerful desktop for a good price. It can even use the PS3 controller if you get wraggster's custom drivers.

    That would be really awesome.

  • Windows XP runs on x86 (Intel and AMD) processors only. The PS3 uses a Cell processor, basically a beefed-up PowerPC processor. That's why you need an x86 emulator like QEMU to run it on a PS3.

You can't write drivers for the GPU because it simply isn't "there." "Other OS" is run under a hypervisor that deliberately restricts access to the hardware.

  • Ah, I see. Too bad the hypervisor restricts access to the GPU, but it makes sense. Sony doesn't want to only get money from systems, they want money from games too, and not the free Linux ones.

Wait, could you install a Hackintosh OS to it, then? Mac OS X Runs on a PowerPC architecture.

Sorry if my questions are very noobish, I am just learning this.

  • The PS3 firmware is very different from OpenFirmware, so the bootloader wouldn't work. If someone wro
