Personally I think its about the sometimes overwhelming problem with oppressive military, or how sometimes no matter what you do, you dont have control over much in your life. Is anyone talking about this song and what its about, or just squabbling about petty little bs? The song is about impressment in, most often, the British navy. They had the authority to draft you into the navy without notice and force you to work on a warship. People often times didn't want to go because of the awful living conditions and low pay. Press gangs were made basically to force people on the boats or just kick the crap out of you till you couldnt get up and throw you onto the boat.
