There are about 10 doco's on Norwegian Black Metal and this one was pretty damn good. They manage to present the subject quite seriously which is almost impossible considering how humourless the genre is which of course makes it ripe for parody.

The "REAL" black metal is actually a group of bored middle class teenagers who guys like Varg & Oystein attempted to radicalise. When they left, the church burnings that followed where largely the fault of the tabloid media encouraging copy cats.

But seriously it lacked in too many areas to be good, but there where a few standout scenes, for example when Fenriz is hanging out in the slums of Oslow, but varg talking is more entertaining then anything TV has to offer, such a wise man.

I saw it and I think they have no idea of black metal outside of the obvious things. They are hippy indie freaks who figured it was cool to make a film about black metal.

Can we get someone with REAL knowledge of black metal or metal to make a film like this next time? Someone to go deeper into the roots of it and talk to more members behind the genre. Good movie, but could have been done better.

You can't deny that they are huge parts of it though. And to get an interview with Varg is pretty impressive. But I am not disagreeing with you.
