he plays like tht cuz he dont no no different, he learnt to play blind and thts how he learnt, no1 told him his fret hand is in the wrong position, theres a few blind players tht play like that
This guy pisses me off and inspires me at the same time. I am a drummer of 30+ years and decided to try something different...the six string. Been practicing for a few years now and have gotten pretty good. Then I see guys like this and realize how far I have to go. The guy has a weird style playing the frets upside down, but hell, it works. Going to my strat and practice scales. What a bore but they will help in the long run. Keep jammin Hiroaki! Cheers.
I admit they don't sound as good live but neither do most other bands doesn't mean they suck. Ever thought about how much musicianship went into writing there albums? harmonizing all those riffs and making it all fit together that must have taken some serious knowledge of how music works.
This is actually really inspirational once you think about it. He's a blind person that learned to play guitar. There are people that can see that will give up if they can't play a certain song. Hiroaki Tagawa is a revolutionary guitarist that pushes the boundaries on modern electric guitar.
Man! I've searched for this song "My Eternal Dream" AND the original creator of it everywhere, I just can't find it anywhere. If someone knows where to find it, i'd be eternally grateful if you could tell me. Hiroaki is my new inspiration!
There's no such thing as a wrong way to play the guitar. He's blind, do you think he can see how we all play the guitar? Even so, he can pull cords a lot faster over the neck than under. I like it, it's fresh.
Practicing more is the ONLY way man. Anything else would eventually hurt your playing. "Youth has yet to learn that the hardest way to do something is, in the long run, the easiest"
agree with random...but U really think he's blind? like...maybe he just put on some glasses so he could demonstrate he was able to do that without seein :P
I imagine after a lot of practice, it would be possible to play any song with your eyes closed. However, actually learning the song with your eyes closed is a lot more challenging.
Normal guitarist dont look at their guitar either do they?

I say in Russian:
Респект и уважение, Hiroaki Tagawa
Не видя гитары,он так её чувствует...
Эта мелодия бесподобна...

Blind people often play with that position, they often play sit down with the guitar on their knees.

ok im not blind but i would like to be able to play completely without visual system... anyone have some advice on how to acomplish that goal ???
i wuz thinking bout various phisical markings on the back on my neck combined with some scalloping on the upper range on my fretboard...
and yeah.. plz no "practice more" answers..
i think the world need guitars (or at least guitar necks) for blind ppl.
any ideas very welcomed !

You guys shouldn't be so cynical. Of course he's really blind, and he's an amazing guitarist.
Whether he can see or not, whether guitar us muscle memory or not, he's still better than 99% of the guitarist population.
The song kicks ass.

guitar playing is muscle memory, you don't even need to see anything to be able to play good.
That was still really good though.

yeah but unlike you he can never see unless he paid for some million dollar operation.
