Most people like this song played allegro moderato....but it strikes a certain chord in my heart when played like this. Slow and with pain and feeling. I'm quite certain chopin would have chose something close to this style. He didn't like his music played with a fake dramatic flare. He was all about feeling, not so much a grandioso performance. This song is supposed to be played SLOWLY and SERIOUSLY!

Sento un dolore incontenibile nascermi nel petto... tutto il dolore del mondo è concentrato nei primi 3 minuti di questo splendido brano. Ma ecco intravista la speranza, come una luce intravista in mezzo a tanta desolazione, tristezza, dolore; per poi ripiegarsi nuovamente nel buio, nel nulla. Nel nulla assoluto.
