@bigace657 Sorry BigAce, obviously speed has alot to do with pitching, especially when it comes to being looked at. But as far as being successful you need to rely on location,location,location, and of course changing speed. Hitting is timing and you throw one pitch say mid 90s and no movement on the fastball sorry bud you wanna talk about higher lvls; here in the NCAA thats my best friend. But your only 13 buddy you'll figure that out.

yea i was taught to throw a curveball where if i do it right it wont hurt my elbow but yea u should develop your fastball and changeup first its way better on your arm

Kids shouldn't be throwing off-speed pitches until they are about 13/14 years old, a change-up at maximum. Anything more could seriously injure their arms for the future. Hope you take this into consideration :)

Just a tip, he should start with his hands apart, then bring them together when he comes set. What he is doing now is a balk. It is good to get into good habits at a younger age. I'm 13 and I'm a pitcher, and i have a wicked curveball. My dad pitched in the pros, and yes he is my pitching coach. He is looking good though!!
