More volume works for me. I have a 212 and below 4-5 on the volume it sounds muddy. Anything over that it's amazing however you don't want to play on your room at those levels! :)

@xxsladedethxx - It sounds amazing! If you have a tubescreamer, then just dial in your preferences on the eq on the distortion channel, and drive it further with the tubescreamer! It will sound amazing! and if you have a distortion pedal, then the clean channel, and your pedal will do the magic.

I can do some, but they don't sound anywhere as "screechy" and "detached from the usual guitar sound", if you know wat I mean. Most pinch harmonics I hear also don't change sound characteristics over time, yours in that one song do in a way.

So in a usual tutorial on those things I guess I will not learn how to do this ^^

sorry thats not actually a pinch harmonic i was listening to the wrong part, that particular noise is coming from the guitarists backing track and is not actually being produced by his playing, to me it sounds like it is being played using digitech whammy pedal, do a search for whammy pedals and see if this is what you are looking for, tom morello of rage againg the machine and audioslave is famous for using a whammy pedal

I'm going to sound stupid, but is the Valveking tube or solid? I'm aware it has valve in the name, but some Boogies (not the Mesas) are considered "valve" but don't use power tubes.

@theheretic11 I don't think he's playing straight through the amp, I have one of these and, while it sounds amazing with an EQ, You really have to crank it up before it gets chunky, and even then, the gain isn't really high enough... You should look into getting a Bugera 333xl.... for 600 bucks you get a really heavy sound, and it's all tube.

if you want to make this amp sound good. do not use overdrive pedals. you want ur gain to be at about 6 7ish. your treble at like 4, mids up, and your bass same as your treble. and your resonance and presence at about 8. and turn the A A/B switch all the way to your right. and you should be able to get a sick tone. plus, let the peavey warm up on standby for a good 45 minutes. let her cook.

and volume as a lot to it as well. the only way to make any tube amp sound metal you gotta crank it. and you never need a whole lot of gain if you're cranked. but for any metal tone. the secret is in your hands and how you accent your palm mutes.
