The Seat locked its wheels and the Cruze intend to drive pass it. But the Cruze wheel drive on stopped wheel of Seat. Its like 100km/h to 0 in 1 seconds for the Cruze wheel. Immediate damage.

Cruze is too fast for seat so seat must create crash to stop Cruze

@polipochilegge erm different components that can take more punishment? look at the jumps in finland, a WTCC car would dig a hole if it did that and sit flat on its belly...rally cars are built to last

@polipochilegge less give in the suspension is defianatly a factor. The speed is often higher upon impact, and also the fact that a car roles doesn't really mean the wheels will be damaged

@polipochilegge Rallyautos haben eine ganz andere Radaufhängung, die haben ganz andere Federn und Dämpfer, etc. Die Aufhängun eines Rallyautos ist ja dazu gebaut, viel auszuhalten. =)

The reason is that is all lightweight alloy component, and not supposed to be crashed.

This is why Engstler loses the entire wheel group and the idiot safety car not (in wtcc safety car crash video )
