  • Oh boy ,wait till Yellow Stone blow's. That will be something to look at.

  • so no lava came out just ash

  • @Cassinator8 Volcanic ash IS lava that has a great deal of gas in it and is exploded out from the volcano. If you mean the kind of lava flow that you would see from, say, a Hawaiian volcano then no.

  • St. Helens is in the ring of fire ..there'll probably be more to come from that area. Awesome video. Good job

  • The volunteer was a hottie. Speaking of bulges . . .

  • I THINK THIS VIDEO RULES

     AWSOME

  • oh and dont forget about spirit lake and the eight-hundred meter wave. dont forget the brave dave johnston's last quote.

  • theres still so much destruction there. i went there for a field trip during my geoscience class. it topped the records mainly due to the lahar [mudslide]

  • that is spectacular - i heard krakatoa was 80 times more powerful . i cant even imagine what that would be

  • Dear One, I hope you never have to know first hand.

    Warmly

  • WOW

  • Dude around the end of the vid you where in a theatre like room and you saw the eruption is that the movie?

  • Yes .. that is actual footage of the eruption from the Johnston Observatory presentation.

  • Oh,that part was REALLY creapy!

  • what kind of place was it . to proterct you from the gases and ash flow ? was it under ground?

  • The observatory is a state run park and is an information center where you can learn more about what happened and see the equipment they have to keep track of it. It is a tourist center.

  • how far is johnston obsevatory? i think dave johnson was 5 miles away when he perished and that was considered a safe zone is this correct?

  • The Johnston Observatory is directly across from Mt. St. Helens .. perhaps a few miles. Not sure what the safe zone was, although the way the mountain blew . there was no safe zone.

  • yes i understand that the eruption was not expected to be so large . but david johnson thought he was in a safe zone .. thank you bongo

  • now your saying the smoke and ash went right over were you were just like in the video?

    how did you guys survive?

  • No dear one .. We were not there at the Eruption. Our video was taken 27 years after it happened. The clip in the middle is of the actual eruption, though.

  • Was that the Johnston Observation post you were at?

    Neat video.

  • Yes .. it was. There is a beautiful new road now and an excellent presentation. Two days after we visited, they had a 2.8 earthquake, so even though the guide said it is not active, there still seems to be activity in the area. It is chilling to visit there, even 26 years later. Thank you for your comment.
