@Cassinator8 Volcanic ash IS lava that has a great deal of gas in it and is exploded out from the volcano. If you mean the kind of lava flow that you would see from, say, a Hawaiian volcano then no.
theres still so much destruction there. i went there for a field trip during my geoscience class. it topped the records mainly due to the lahar [mudslide]
The observatory is a state run park and is an information center where you can learn more about what happened and see the equipment they have to keep track of it. It is a tourist center.
The Johnston Observatory is directly across from Mt. St. Helens .. perhaps a few miles. Not sure what the safe zone was, although the way the mountain blew . there was no safe zone.
No dear one .. We were not there at the Eruption. Our video was taken 27 years after it happened. The clip in the middle is of the actual eruption, though.
Yes .. it was. There is a beautiful new road now and an excellent presentation. Two days after we visited, they had a 2.8 earthquake, so even though the guide said it is not active, there still seems to be activity in the area. It is chilling to visit there, even 26 years later. Thank you for your comment.
Oh boy ,wait till Yellow Stone blow's. That will be something to look at.
