Birds , especially parrots are anyway much smarter than science believed so far.

Though having had lots of freedom & just as talkative + musical, I believe he should have had a partner at a time: Nobody is meant to be alone, no creature. And they should all have the chance to mate with their own kind. Often our love for animals is influenced by our egoism. Just a thought. But it's obvious you spend a lot of time with your feathered companion, which is good :o)
