LaBrie is an amazing vocalist, but I don't think his vocals fit this song at all. It may be due to this being a live performance, or do to the fact that Charlie Dominici's voice just fits the track better (not note wise, but the sound of his voice).

@Intelligentia100 I think it's because LaBrie just isn't as good as he used to be. He would have sang this better back in the day. Someone on Youtube uploaded the "I Remember When" documentary. There were live clips of all the songs (I think) from their 1st album and Dominici did not sound good live. He sounded like he was straining to sing the higher parts. Now, I'm not saying he's a bad vocalist. I think he sounds good on his Dominici albums.

Post release of Awake era, he got food poisoning, and was told he would never sing again. Lucky, that was wrong, but his voice has had a trail of recovery. Furthermore, Dominici himself says that his voice didn't have the power Dream Theater needed.

When Moore was still in the band, the keyboard solo and verses sounds... Well, you know, more authentic, especially their song Ytse Jam. And ever since Moore left the band, it seems Petrucci and Portnoy practically dominates the band, so the keyboard is pretty vague when Rudess and Sherinian is in.
