  • How ya like Dat hit?

  • it happens to everyone.....doesn't take away from dat's legacy

  • Dat played for the Cowboys for a couple years, I remember.

  • So where is Joel Makovica? Is he in the pros? What kind of pro career did he have? Never heard him!

  • Joel Makovicka is my Physical therapist!!!!

  • All of the mackovicka bros are amazing... I played against one a couple of years ago... Ouch. GO BIG RED!!!

  • Huge Huskers fan, even bigger Cowboys fan. Two of my favorite players of all-time. Nguyen was a phenomenal player, absolutely does not diminish his ability (had a way more productive career than Joel in the pro's.)

With that said, Mack was a f'n beast!! One of the greatest fullbacks in college football history.

  • Sick! Go Big Red!

  • and.....? everyone gets taking down in football, no one is an exception.

  • Makovica was huge and very strong. Joel Makovica is one of the few Nebraska players in history who could have manhandled Lawrence Phillips or Ndamukong Suh!!

  • All I observed was Dat's name in most of these comments... Doesn't matter who the victim of Joel Mackovica was! Plan in simple, he would knock your ass out!! How about focus on the moral of this story... Dahhhhh

  • Dat Nguyen was so small... Great block all the same, though.

  • now that was a hit

  • I think this is the same game where QB Scott Frost decleated an A&M defender after handing the ball off.

  • I remember when Makovicka cracked a helmet and broke someones leg he was incredible.

  • MAKOVICKA = FULLBACK GREATNESS! and he fucked dat up!!

  • @795re Dat Nguyen is the best player to step on a football field!

  • funny

i can wiki dat nguyen but i can't find Joel Makovica anywhere.

  • His name is misspelled here. It's Makovicka. And he's on Wikipedia and thousands of other sites. One of the great college fullbacks of the past 25 years.

  • hahah /\ that's fuckin hilarious. so true too! =]

  • That's because you're a moron.

  • Dude - it's football. Every player gets whacked real good at least a few times in his career, Dat Nguyen is no exception. I'll bet Mackovic got knocked flat on his azz a couple of times too.

  • u ever watch mackovica play ? he was a badass motherfuker

  • Yeah - I watched him lots of times. Great blocking fullback, but give props - Dat Nguyen was one of the best inside linebackers college football has ever seen and would have had a HoF-worthy career if he hadn't suffered that unfortunate neck injury.

  • He was a great player, but to call him one of the best inside linebackers ever is a stretch.

  • @briant420 at least he made it to the NFL what about u??? i bet your not even skilled enough to play football

  • @PrincePooty I'm skilled enough to know you should've said "you're". Moron.

  • @briant420

    said

  • @briant420 fuck u mother fucker

  • @iGUYZ808 Umad?

  • @briant420 he probably was in college, had so many awards. And in the NFL he was great, if he wouldnt have got hurt, he prolly would have been hall of fame material. The guy didnt have the greatest numbers in the NFL, but could really read plays.

  • amen

  • Joel was one the best FBs in college ball and will be rememberd long afer the overrated guyne. Joel was a stud at Neb. and with the Arizona Cardnials!!

  • Mackovica wasn't the Big 12 defensive player of the decade.

  • yeah he probably would have stayed on his feet if he had not tripped over his teammates foot. but yeah they still would have got the TD.

  • Wow! Racism raises it's ugly head over a football play? Regardless of what team you pull for, that kind of attitude is pathetic and should not be welcomed among those of us who truly love and appreciate the college game. In other words, go way and stay away.

  • well i have heard of datnguyen, played for the cowboys. i have never heard of joel makovica.

  • Too bad you didnt hear of Joel. He damn near took your boys head off!

  • i hate the cowboys. my husband is a cowboys fan not me, i just couldn't stand 795re's racist junk.

  • Dat was still a great player. Everybody gets blocked every once in a while. Doesn't dimenish his ability or his history of great plays. Gig 'em Aggies and good luck to the you Huskers this year. Hope that your new coach brings back the black shirt defense. Maybe we can get a rematch of that BIG XII Championship game this year...I kind of doubt it though.

  • Yeah, the 'Wrecking Crew' and the Blackshirts are both kinda on hard times right now, it would be nice to see both at full glory again.

  • @TooColdAK my last name is Nguyen and im a big huskers fan but Dat made me proud to be vietnamesse

  • Badass! Bring back the walkons

  • I loved watching that game. PreGame the announcers talked about how Nebraska couldn't handle Nguyen, and #45 knocked him into next week on that play. Wasn't Texas A&M favored to win too?

  • he was tripped by the d end that was just gettin blocked

  • sounds like another poor Aggie excuse.

  • Well now, that'e not very nice. No reason to be a jerk. The guy was just pointing out the obvious.

  • Really? And his helmet popping off too was mere coinceded also I suppose. Get real...he caught a surprise trying to man up at the goaline. 45's brother was Jeff Mackovicka (#22) on this NU championship teams taking out Florida linebackers as well.

  • PANCAKE!!!

  • Face.

  • i met dat nguyen and he signed my #9 jersey when i went to the nebraska alburn cotten bowl.

  • so what, this happens to almost everone who has played the game of football. you just get back up.

  • ...and he just gets up and jogs off. Actions speak louder than words.

  • This isnt a blindside hit or a defenseless player, this is face to face domination. So quit making excuses for Dat being owned. Show some respect to the beastly Fullback.

  • ive been in that situation in football, it isn't to uncommon. when im aimin to hit the ball carrier, but i get trucked by the lead. no matter how good u are u get caught off guard sometimes.

  • Isn't it better to name a well known player when describing the play? doesn't "Makovicka levels Dat Nguyen" sound more interesting to watch than "Makavicka levels someone".. If anything I see it as respect for Nguyen to be named..

  • dam that was a good hit... you can tell it stunned him... Nguyen was definitely a star, but when you are going against National Championship type players, your star ranking doesnt help you..

  • He was a fucking fullback. Of course he doesn't have many videos on youtube. He was a damned amazing football player in college and knocked that motherfucker on his ass

  • Day Nguyen-recent inductee to the AT&T Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.

  • no. joe makoshit is a nobody. lots of players look good in college, but that doesn't mean shit. only nebraska cornhuskshit people know who joe makoshit is.

  • Let me guess. Buffs fan, right?

  • Look good in college? How many fullbacks get drafted in the fourth round and by the way he was a starter in the NFL. He was the most versatile fullback to go through the Nebraska football program and just as good or better than Cory Schlesinger and Tom Rathman.

  • Damn these Aggie fans are fuckin touchy. No one tried to cut down Dat Nguyen. He was a great college player and a decent pro player as well. Makovicka was a great college player and I could give a shit less what he did in the pros. And the dude who asked if he was up for a Heisman...dude, he's a fullback. Seriously Aggs, get over yourselves.

  • if he wasn't trying to cut down on Dat, then why even mention his name. Why not say he made a great hit. Every player gets knocked off and blindsided by hits in football all the time.

  • Mackovicka never rushed for negative yards as a college player and in Nebraska (pre Callahan) we used to run over people with our fullbacks. Just because the NFL doesn't use them doesn't mean that its not an important position.

  • Never heard of Mackovicka? Did he ever play in NFL? On the other hand, Dat Nguyen was on Americas Team.

  • 5 years in the NFL

  • Was it him or Schelssinger that made it to the probowl

I mean, honestly name 5 fullbacks in the NFL. Its not a glorified position

  • Still have never heard of him. He must have not done much.

  • that doesn't mean shit if your dumbass doesn't know who he is

  • Mackovicka is an Amazing Fullback and a Great Player!!!

  • Great player? You kiddin me? Was he ever considered for Heisman Trophy? What did he do in the Pros? Why is even mentioned in the same breath as Dat Nguyen?

  • First off, Who gives a shit about an award jokingly called the "hype"man Trophy? It's a goddamn popularity contest. Jesus, Eric Crouch won it, and he didn't even play in the NFL. ;-)

  • Are most of you this fucking dense?! I'm making ABSOLUTELY NO judgements on Dat, I just think the hit is pretty damn cool and I like the huskers, and I guess to most of you, that's a crime.

  • You people need to relax, and not flip out when people show something you don't like. Cause guess what, this is the U.S., and people are going to hate you or things you like. I happen to not give a damn that Dat was Vietnamese, or was undersized, or that he played for the Cowboys, or that fans loved him. Get over it.

  • No. You're trying to make Macvoka as some great player when he made ONE good hit on a great player. Big deal. That doesn't mean Macvoka is a great player.

  • makovica was an awesome player and you obviously don't know dick about college football

  • funny how you say he was a great college football player, but there is no other post in youtube on him, but Tim Couch(another bust) has more posts in youtube. guess that shows how much people know of a football player makoshit is. if it was some really truly good college player or somebody that CAN PLAY running over Dat,then hey, i can respect that.

  • wow you're on a roll.

  • Not many videos of him because he is a fullback. He wasn't very known because of the greats that he played with and was mainly used as a blocker. When you play with Scott Frost, Tommie Fraizer, Ahman Green, and Lawrence Phillips they get all the attention. Joel was an outstanding blocker which is a part of the reason these qbs and rbs were so great and when they gave him the ball up the middle he could run guys over. I do recall him running 40+ yards various times as a fb up the mid

  • It's ok man. Let them vent because even though the last few years have been down, they still haven't come near the level of success that we've had and hopefully will have starting in the next hour and a half.

  • because he blew dat off the line of scrimmage

  • zcarenow. I don't think anyone has ever thought of mentinoing a fullback as a heisman winner. Going 4th round in the NFL draft as a fullback is quite impressive, though.

  • Dat's still my hero..

  • I'm not putting him down. Wow, is it that hard to figure out? I'm merely displaying how good Makovicka was as a college player.

  • Lots of great college players out there,so what? College and Pro are like night and day. Ask Gino Torreta, Jason White, Ron Dane. Shall i go on?

  • The game of football is hit or be hit and what's in the heart of a champion is how a man will get up and do it again. It's a coward to sit on your ass and criticize a man, a winner, of his credential and how he earned his ways from a single football play...

  • To the contrary. I gave Nguyen his due by stating he was a Lombardi award winner, no small feat. I am merely displaying how good a fullback Makovica was.

  • dat nguyen will be a better linebacker then you will ever be so stop trying to put people down :)
