of oxygen in gas form and converting it to water. It explains the salinity of the world's oceans, because the hydrogen came up through the crust first, AND it explains why dinosaurs were so large, because the high oxygen levels allowed biological processes to be more reactive. It ALSO explains why the dinosaurs became extinct, because the change in levels of oxygen altered all levels of life, from plants, up to the large dinosaurs that ate specific species of them. Bravo! Science done!

I would not worry. The theory that the earth rotated around the sun was ridiculed by EVERYBODY and supported by institutions. The key is that the institutions do not care about science, they care about status quo, and this idea upsets the status quo quite ravishingly. I like it! I can go a step further and assume the reason this happened is because hydrogen was trapped beneath the surface of the crust, and when it came up via volcanos, it mixed with the oxygen in the air, lowering the level

think about this ones in life time earth looked just like Mercury with smooth surface, and with the force of inner core earth created mountains which came to the surface form of lava and some asteroids created some of the dept's. it grew vertically up over all size perhaps change little bit. Your explanation is far from reality planets are not balloon grow the way you are explaining.
You should do little more research before trying to explain something like that. If though I commented that planet earth is growing in which matter inner core highly concentrated when it melts upper surface of the inner core it just expend that mass but is not that much the way you explaining according to your explanation it was moon size became what it is that completely out of proportion. And plates are moving I can give you tons of facts.
It has also been recorded that the surface does NOT have the same age every where. according to your idea the surface was all set when the Earth began to "grow" well radiocarbon dating disagrees with you. and I wander where the water came from....
Also, and it has been recorded, iron and nickel had also become iradiated due to the suns radioactivity. Which continues to give the core heat. The earth was also further bombarded by many other fragments floating around in the early formation of the solar system giving the earth extra properties.
Also, and it has been recorded, iron and nickel had also become iradiated due to the suns radioactivity. Which continues to give the core heat. The earth wa also further bombarded by many other fragments floating around in the early formation of the solar system giving the earth extra properties.

It is possible but not a very popular theory. Think of it thi way guys. The earth starts out in the solar system as an extremely large iron/nickel fragment. Radioactivity fom the sun heats up this fragment and causes it to expand. Iron and nickel when heated retain a large amount of it's heat and takes a long time to cool think of the hood of your car in summer.
So plate tectonics is an absurd theory, but the idea of the Earth somehow getting bigger isn't? What the hell, man? Is the Earth a big balloon in your mind? Who's inflating it? And I suppose all the water just magically arrived from the Kuiper belts or something?
@c0wz an i ask where did all that mass some from that wasnt there before? what kind of force could make a planet grow? it is a neat concept though...for a scifi novel.
The only question is whether or not Neal Adams is qualified to make this statement. He is a comic book writer, not any kind of scientist possessing the proper training or knowledge to deal with the issue at hand.
Actually this hypothesis is correct.. Why? because Earth gains mass because it collects Dust as it plows through space.. The solar system is also moving! The Earth collects tons of dust particles from space just about every day.. Meteors and comet collisions also add mass to Earth..
Do your self a favor and ask how much material Earth would be collecting 3.5 billion years ago until now... Tectonic plates also play a small role.. But the mass of the Earth did in fact increase.
The CGI is sketchy, but mass was not gained alone by quakes and shifting plates. Meteor and asteroid impacts debris do add mass over time, I won't argue with that fact.. Earth had separate continents before Pangaea was even formed. The only question is Earth's giant impact with a smaller planet that resulted in the forming of the Moon; and how it affected the (then existing) plates.
The Earth actually experiences both. It has some form of tectonics but it also gains mass at the same time.. This video's model is correct accept that it denies or fails to include some geological effects of tectonics. This is because as the Earth grows the plates also expand and move..
Tectonics actually become more of a factor as the planet gets larger.. The growing mantle or core begins to have more effect over the Earth's crust. which can crack, move, and even create mountains.. However, there really hasn't been any major movements of the continents because the puzzle does indeed come back together if you were to shrink the planet...
Plus geological or volcanic activity also helps spread the plates apart.
WOW this is so stupid, do you think matter is magically appearing inside the earth to make is larger, if this was true the entire planet would of been covered in water, land life would not have had the time to evolve to the extent we see now
@lostburbon stars expand as they grow older. is it that hard to believe a planet might not? perhaps most of the H2o that is on the surface now was closer to the earths core under extreme pressure. maybe over the BILLIONS of years as the iron and heavy metals moved towards the earths core it forced the elements like hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen towards the exterior where they were able to cool and becoume liquid water and atmosphere? this isn't %100 but the continents do "fit together"
This guy is so stupid that he's talking about how the earth's land masses have formed ( incorrectly i might add ) but the earth is rotating in the wrong direction. What a twit!
@Hall1263 it's turning backwards to emphasize "going back in time." try it yourself, get a balloon and put on it pieces of paper for the continents then let out half the air. it won't be perfect, but you can see it all fits. Pangaea is a ridiculous concept.
The US Navy does not agree with you. Tectonic plates were thoroughly mapped by them.... Check your facts... Oh-- and by the way, the earth does not rotate West-to-East, and has always been 7986 miles in diameter at the equator.... Are you sure your school has been accredited???? I don't think it has!!!
Pour some water on it, that shit will GROW! LMAO XD
This is the least science-based theory I've heard yet. Let's have them explain something like the reversal of the Earth's magnetic poles or even just the San Andres Fault line.....
wow haha nice one..whoever made this video is providing the wrong information..unless of course, this planet was Venus which does rotate clockwise (heheh, the one and ONLY planet in the solar system to rotate clockwise)
Maybe they just spun the globe that way in the video for the sole purpose of showing the entire globe changing, not because they wanted it to be accurate and failed in doing so.
@sharinganx12 Sorry about that, you are right it does rotate counter-clockwise but in the video he states that you "are going back in time" hence the reason the Earth is rotating backwards.
where is the proof that the planet was Really smaller Rather than the planet being the same size when this happend? Because that would mean Gravity is getting Stronger.
you mean weaker if the earth was smaller then the gravity would have to become smaller for it to expand and maybe atlatis was in one of those cracks that went into the ocean. and another the water level would be way higher if there the land was much closer and more compact
Are you F*&ing kidding me!? Where did the oceans come from? HOW and WHY does the earth grow? What is responsible for earthquakes being where they are? Is the Earth still growing today? Why would the scientific community want to hide this if it were true? What would be the purpose of that? Where is YOUR evidence. You make a claim (hypothesis) and then do not support it with an evidence at all. Anyone with a fancy graphics program can morph one thing into another but this is not evidence.
So, they adjusted the diameter of earth to accommodate their theory, but no explanation of where all the water came from.
