I really fear what would have happened if moz had not got the record deal to make YATQ...we probably would not have seen him again, and would not have this absolutely beautiful music.
i love this version of this song. i was disappointed with the b-side studio version. this harder, guitar driven version seems to drive the lyrics more poignantly, as they should be. every asshole-Republican and weak-knee Democrat needs to hear and understand these sentiments .... cheers!
This song was such a powerful statement when it first came out and still is. Personally I think it shouldve been on the LP, YATQ. But it was a b-side on FOTGTD, too bad.
My partner of 10 yrs is from Mexico, and have loved Morrissey before and after meeting him. Didn't know he loves the culture so much. The #1 CD, on OUT Magazine list of all time, is The Smiths! Seems to appeal to those that are lonely, or have experienced alienation.
Ever heard his song "bengali in platforms" from the "viva hate" album?? -- "life is hard enough when you belong here".. well,, hes just a master provocateur I guess :P

This is true and sad too. I don't know if in other countrys the things works like here. We are one of the worst places in the whole world.

"Everything will work out fine if you're white in Mexico"
So sad and So true!!!
There is even a saying in Mexico that says that "white people have no right to be poor in Mexico"
By the way, I´m a dark skin Mexican.

Really?
I think Moz studio version add more to his already beautiful voice.
His studio version of this song reminds me of a lullaby.
And the lyrics are:
"I lay on the grass and cry my heart out for want of my love..."
geoxsep 4 years ago
The live version is so much better than the lifeless studio version. Should have been a single if recorded properly.
