I'd always been taught that the shooter is the least likely to be hit by riccochet, since bullets are unlikely bounce straight back.

When I first bought my Glock 9mm, I did not know the physics of a bullet.

I assumed bullets smahed on impact, so, like the dumbass I am I thought it would be cool to shoot at a brick wall, and so I did.

I fired like 3 rounds at it and I heart one whistle by my head when it ricocheted off of the wall.

The round came so close to hitting me I actually felt the wind and the shock wave and I heard it like not even an inch away from my ear.

I felt so damn lucky.

i didnt think slugs actually broke like that.... every slug i have ever seen has been flattend to a compact size, but maybe im wrong.... that was lucky it didnt get him in the face or body....

In this video I'm guessing the slug (a 50 cal slug is pretty hefty) broke up some, and one of the pieces hit the ground while another hit the shooter...

When I was 16 I shot a 22 rifle at what I thought was a 4x4 sticking in the ground, at around 15 yards. It was a concrete marker, and the slug bounced right back at me and whized right past my left ear.

That's really rare for a bullet to ricochet 180 degrees back to the shooter. I don't think I've ever seen that happen before. Does anyone know if that is a common thing to happen?

Yes it is possible for that round to richochet, but only if he was shotting at a target that was not completely flat. A flat piece of steel wouldnt richochet a round. I have had a round richochet straight back at me and hit my truck.

I have never seen a rifle richochet with the exception of a glancing shot. I have shot at steel with everything from a 22mag to a 300 win mag and the rounds shatter on impact. This had to be shrapnel from whatever he was shooting at.
