  • aborting a potentially bad landing... smart move on the pilot's part!

  • just amazing

  • Our maximum crosswind component was 15 knots.

  • I bet the passengers was like, "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

  • @genrolecaspe lol i certainly would have sweaty palms...

  • Even I would not want to be on this plane.

And, I would not want my house to be near this airport!

  • Great decision to go around. There's nothing more disposable than an approach, after all.

  • @woodymmbbrr depends on how much fuel the plane has i guess...

  • People who say that it was a long time for the go around call it was b/c he waits for a certain mark on the runway that says x amount of feet left on the runway, based on how many feet the plane needs to land, u can still land until you pass the runway threshold for that aircraft

  • Thumbs up for the pilot !!!!

  • the conditions were unsafe and if the pilot had landed the plane would be outshort of runway as i observed that he had passed the no.4 painted on the runway which means you are in trouble... good decision.

  • I would have loved to be on this plane!

  • whow....! thats so scary to watch! this video aint helping my fear of flying :(

  • Salute To the pilot !!!!

  • You guys that plane ends up hitting the bushes at the end of the runway and igniting into flames.

  • @aydanhawkeye: stop bullshitting

  • @aydanhawkeye That was another plane in a completely different country, operated by a completely different airline.

  • @aydanhawkeye No it doesnt

  • surprised how long it took for the go around to be initialized. I wouldve been on the toga button after the first oscillation.

  • credits to pilot

  • Looks like a microburst incident, also the engines take 12-15 seconds to respond to a full power command after throttles moved forward.

The pilot flying almost certainly commanded a full power go around at the first "wobble" however couldnt start the nose pitch upwards until airspeed had increased, not possible until engines spooled up.

    Watch again,

  • Condintions like this warrant a direct approach with little or no flare. stay @ or about a 3-4oo ft / min descent rate. Reminds me of my early days in the simulator when not caring if I even hit the rw or not. Hard touchdowns are apart of flying and if your descent at touchdown is 3-4ooft/min the airplane can take it.

  • what the hell happened there? the captain and the FO fighting over the sidestick? Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, OHH SCREW IT LETS GO UP!

  • @hello1233280 Read the video desctription :)

  • @sleeptyper I have. But whats with the left, right, left, right. The joystick's the problem. Thats why many pilots prefer Boeings.

  • this shit wouldve happened with either an airbus or a boeing. i love how people with no knowledge of aviation try to make these "arguments" bout which airframe is better ... lol

  • Good job!

  • @serverguyxx you did not know what to do own, is it?

  • @serverguyxx the winds look pretty calm jackass.

  • 0:23 haters gunna hate

  • I almost lost my dinner watching the video!

  • omg...thats scary, i bet those passengers where like WTFF?!

  • I would have gone around at the point where the vid starts. It was a lost cause right from the start. Best just throttle up, gear up take a breath and try again.

  • passengers certainly did get hot

  • That goes to show why you shouldn't let CJ to fly a plane.

  • What a plonker - why so late with the go around? Trying to prove something, or kill 150+ people?

  • That landing should have been aborted loooong before it was. That asshole needs to be grounded.

  • Yeah ... I would have been a bit uncomfortable. Sometime back in the late 60's I flew into Kobe Japan just ahead of a Typhoon, the approach and landing were almost exactally like a bad wooden roller coaster.

  • omg I hope they gave everyone a free cocktail

  • Oh bollocks

  • when in doubt, throttle up and climb.

  • I am proud for this TAP pilot. Good work!

  • Now tht is some super pilot stuff !!

  • Another AIRBUrSt.......

  • this is what i hate bout planes

  • Do none of you think that had the very experienced pilot been in an airplane that would allow him to actually fly the airplane, he would have been able to very safely land that airplane? Airbus products, 318 and newer, will not allow the pilot control of that airplane. Proper crosswind control techniques are NOT allowed by Airbus and they have programed the computers to never allow the pilot to use the proper flight control inputs.

  • @eekedout Yeah, right. I'm a Boeing fan but even I know that's bullshit.

  • @eekedout Oh my... the aircraft do NOT fly it self UNLESS the AP command is set... As long as the AP command is disengaged the pilots can handle the stick in ANY types of conditions... Dude, please come on... how on earth can you even make that comment?? In very strong wind, the pilots prefer a pilot landing instead of a autoland... The airbus dont have anymore programs than a boeing 737,except of the fly by wire system...

  • does the crew know about the cross wind b-4 they land or what,,,

  • @izzypod They get weather info 5 mins or so before landing, this pilot knew what was in front of him way before he started on the ILS he should have not insisted so much crabbing the plane down the runway he knew he was out of landing space well before he pulled back and aborted the landing, very bad pilot indeed and would have been sacked if he was one of mine and reported to the CAA

  • @Macinabit ,how come the flight control or the tower advice thr crew not to land,in such aday like that

  • @Macinabit Where you the in that cockpit and knew the conditions? Well no i didnt think so... STOP mocking the pilot before knowing what went wrong and how the weather conditions was.. He didnt crash, and he certainly didnt kill any passengers,so a good job from the pilots!

  • @ollo1982 My Dear Chap if you know anything about flying you should know that when he was on the ILS he would have had the ground weather data or not?. He was way over the landing area and was still crabbinbg it on down GOOD or BAD?. The Stability of the aircraft was a some points enough to make a go around OR Not?

I have a brother who is a Pilot in the UK and he would not have done that and yes he is mad. Learn about flying old chap.

  • @Macinabit Yes.. your brother is a pilot, and your father is captain and your mother is flightattendant?? strange that almost evry one have some kinda plane related stuff in the family... And i dont give a shit if your brother is mad... its NOT you thats in that cockpit, nor your brother.. anyone seeing this is allowed to speculate, but writing what the pilots should do etc is stupid.. it the captain and FO that is in the cockpit.. they did not crash and did not kill anyone... great piloting!

  • @ollo1982 No Just my brother, no captain my father is 80 and I am 50 so I think it would be very dificult!. I don't give a shit if he is mad so that makes two of us!. I am Speculating as well as you ??. Bad Pilot very very bad, infact it should have been put in the flight log. Should have gone around on the ILS or even at the start on trying to land. I would NOT have been happy on that plane and would have taken legal action against the pilot afterwards. Have a nice day.

  • @Macinabit Yea you would have taken legal actions afterwards... wonder who would have won that! You? or the pilot with most likely thousands of hours flying jets, with a well established airline backing him up?? Use your head dude! People would only be laughing at you... most likely would your brother laugh at you to :D :D :D

  • i would do shit on myself

  • the conditions were clearly unsafe and the pilto made an excellent decision to make a go around. These guys are heros and the pilot deservs a vc or equilvent.

  • @lordlozz1 They are not heros. They are employees. Don't give them too much credit. The trash man is not a hero. The guy who rescues the plane crash victim without being employed to do same is the hero. Lifeguards are not heros. Getting paid to fly planes doesn't get anyone hero status in my world. Doctors who work for free to help children are heros. Doctors who charge money to save children are appreciated but not heros. Taking credit for being a hero voids hero-ism.

  • @SoCalDualSport calm down m8 why do you need to attack someones comment because you don't agree with it

  • @SoCalDualSport agreed, I mean i'm a PC technician, do I get a medal everytime I don't install vista?

  • @BeeEmmW You should get one. Vista sucks

  • great decicion to go around!

  • Go around, Go around!!!

  • Bad landing..

  • Although the pilot aborted the landing in the extreme gusty condition, he is a very experienced pilot who dared to attempt the landing and then aborted it when it became unsafe.

  • It have nothing to do with wobbling.

  • what does that have to do with anything

  • very good!

  • English!!!

  • The crew took an excellent decision to go-around.

  • no shit

  • OMG I cant watch this but i cant look away....

  • l2 spell

  • if you're an a380 test pilot why can't you spell dumb?

  • he can't spell `drastic`, `when`, `your`, `again`, `structure`, `have` ah,ah,ah

  • lol I didn't even realize he was trying to spell drastic when saying derastic. glad he's not my pilot

  • Or many other simple words...

  • 'cause he's really only 14. lol

  • I just checked your profile it says you're 14. You can't even drive a car yet. enjoy your fail

  • sure...

  • No you aren't! Jog on please...

  • shud have known to go around at 0:20

  • The pilot clearly startet the go around sequence at that time.

  • r u kidding me? u can only start hearing the thrust increase at :30

  • n1sK is right. GA started at 20. BTW: sound is not an instant thing. It takes 1 second to make 340 meters (in ideal condition) without any wind. And this could have been shot from a kilometer so the time it took to reach the camera and the propagation of waves due to wind is pretty much realistic. The pilot did what it had to do.

  • omg i have to fly in two weeks.................

  • i flew with gale dont whory its safe

  • But if you run out of most of your fuel, and the wind didn't die, you only get 1 shot at it, and if you fail - it's over. At least this pilot will land it from one of the tries.

  • hell of a nice job hitting the throttles and gaining back control

  • @scottiev85 I think you mash someone called a "TOGA" button for that

  • Ei!this is in Portugal,my country O_o

  • TAP pilots are some of the best at handling crosswind landings. I used to watch them land at Terceira Island with some nasty winds and those guys are amazing.

  • Tap pilots?

  • Trans Air Portugal (TAP)

  • Pro pilot

  • Pro as in not taking it too far by straightening it out and hitting the go-around buttons yeah, but he nearly hit the runway with his right wing tip.

  • ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm ill pass

  • Take 2. try again

  • id love to be on that plane

  • lol that looks like fun

  • Cross winds can be a pain to try and land in. Pilot did the right thing and went 'Miss'. They can land land like that most of the time. Winds most have been a bit too much for that one.

  • talking bout pilots with some guts there.

  • ruff

  • would be awsome to sit at the left side.

  • lol fail

  • toga - take off go around

  • lol ive been in some very scary landings...just to give u a hint...everytime i come back from vacations, i land in toncontin, tegucigalpa, honduras xD

  • going around anytime is never a bad thing thats for sure

  • question of full finally

  • This is why I'm scared of flying.

The takeoff, the flight, the turbulence, I can take that...

But the landing part always pwns me

I squeeze one out everytime the wheels touch the ground

  • probably not a good idea to be watching bad landings then..... do your confidence alot of good

  • Now get me my brown pants!

  • any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. so as there is no crash footage I assume his next attemp was ok?

  • yes, no, yes i got it, no i dont, yes, maybe, shiiiiiiiiiiiiit, fuck it, ill try again

  • yea and all iin the space of about 2 seconds..quick thinking

  • All I can say is that I admire the skill and competence it must take to pilot an aircraft like that.

  • id love to be on that

  • trust me, you wouldn't if u ever experienced something similar!

  • Wow! This pilot deserves a medal for not wetting his pants!

  • Hmm.. Hard for Pilot!

  • it's the wind man ^^

  • Of all the crosswind aborted landings this is like the 2nd worse I've seen on video.

The Hamburg A320 one was the worst. The wings almost hit the ground when it was rocking and rolling across the runway.

like a previous post said, I probably would have lost all bodily function when that plane was rocking and rolling.

  • Great Job.. aborting a properly dangerous landing is a proof of skill and training of the pilot. Nothing to do with alkohol or beeing drunk.. Well done. But what's interesting is the question how many people had to puke in this approach..

  • Id piss my pants

  • heavy crosswinds. the pilot did the right thing by aborting. it goes to show how powerful these planes are to be able to rocket out of danger just 100 feet from the ground. pilots earn their pay on days like this, not on sunny days in perfect condition. heck, i could land a plane in perfect conditions (well maybe not, but you get my drift).

  • The way TO the airport is more dangerous!!

  • its cross winds its really hard to land in cross winds u idiots

  • Pilot: "I got it! I got it! I got it! I got it! I DON'T GOT IT!"

  • That's why i don't take flights in Rainy Days

  • I would say it is real time, watch the bird fly about :22 seconds, they are trained to take another pass if it isn't safe, good job.

  • i think it would be cool.. and very exciting

  • ist just a restart.... it hapens every day

  • but did you see how much that plane pendulums from left to right? I would realy scared in that plane dude,... ieuw! :-(

  • Improper judgment to execute high-angle crosswind landing of commercial aircraft. Factors include self-induced pressure to land on runway despite adverse conditions.

  • D: Not a British Airways aircraft.

  • :D no but maybe a loaned pilot.. :D

  • Maybe, lol

  • adopted from england? ;)...

    jk....

saw program about BA and drunk pilots...

  • nope....portuguese. TAP, our carrier. The pilot was actually given an aword or that!

  • holy~

i wouldnt wana be sitting nxt to the wing and watching out and see the planes wings get close to the ground

  • full on i hate flying i usually only like take off n landing! great piloting!!

  • Looks breezy 8-)

  • lol would have shited myself =\

  • holy crap if i were flying i'd fly around and find another airport to wait out the winds that's not safe dude

  • The best approach is to alert tower of adverse conditions and request a more suitable runway. If not possible, request to be diverted to another suitable airport. The conditions this pilot encountered, displayed by the severe yaw he put the plane into in order to maintain track with the centerline, clearly indicate prudence to request another runway or airport. There's no room for pride when you're carrying passengers.

  • The pilot did the right thing, his final approach was consistant untill the flare, he encountered problems as he tried to touch down with the RHS main (xwind). By law your allowed to attempt another touch down providing both pilots believe it is safe to do so, clearly they decided against it, correct procedure.

If this was unsuccessful again they could either divert or hold and wait for a better opportunity

  • hope nobody was trying to go pee pee

  • i would love to be in that are plane.

  • XD id be like OHHHHHH SHITTTTT

  • Oops.

  • He was using the crabb method!

  • He ended the maneuver with a go-around.

Full throttle and up in the air :D

  • i want to vomit !

  • video wasn't at regular speed-it was sped up

  • no it wasnt, it is real time speed, look at the bug about 0:23 , it is flying normal.

  • Thats a bird, but true, it is in real time.

  • oh lol, ok, but it is in real time...

  • Actually, it is at 0:23 where it starts going mad.

  • actually, when you look at how fadst is camera moving, sound and plane, its in rl time

  • I would like to on this plane ..... only in my dreams :D

  • that could be fun flying in crosswinds!

  • i would not want to be there too!

  • i would

  • there would have been alot of soiled seats when that plane finally taxied to the airbridge lol

  • WOW

  • aaaaaaarrrrrrrr

  • are ye stupid, dats great piloting,,,,ye no nothing

  • Oh man! And i hate the journey from Copenhagen to Manchester. Scary!

  • I wouldn't want to be on it either, its an airbus a321!

  • Boeing>Airbus on so many levels.

  • How's that related to the video?

  • I was replying to someones comment.
