  • let me add my voice to the debate: love the Berlin original, like SOAD, don't feel the SOAD version of "The Metro" captures the mood or the essence of the tune...

  • the best of this video are the bartenders dancing!

  • You gotta love the 808 in this song.

  • Terri Nunn....yum

  • Great video!! , i brought myself a copy on DVD from rockonvidtrade super cool!!

  • se te agradece tasfdarv

  • Damn that chick is hot lookin

  • She looks like Sam from iCarly when she turns around

  • Sounds better "FUCK you for loving me"

  • I can't believe so many people are still arguing about SOAD's version here.

Like, why can't people just like both versions? Is it a crime to be a metal fan and enjoy New Wave too?

Good music is good music no matter what "group" it fits in and what clothes you have to wear to fit in those groups.

Fuck that shit, just enjoy the music.

  • this song is really bad, but system of a down's cover was fucking beast

  • SOAD is Better but its a good song anyway

  • Terry Nunn: Even prettier than Stevie Nicks. And that's hard to do.

  • Can I be 16 once again when this song hit me when I was a sophomore in high school and fell in love with bands and Nu Wave culture like Devo, Berlin, Duran Duran, Prince and the Revolution, Andre Cymone, Kraftwerk etc. Doc Brown I need that souped- up De Loren pronto. Thanks for the upload you just made a Black Nerd smile at a great memory.

  • System of A Down gave new life to this song...btw why do they dance so hard core to this boring slow paced music?

  • @urieldx

Yes SOAD did a great job with a great song. BTW 180bpm is not slow paced. Admit you love this song. Now dance like a mental patient!

  • THANKS for this--Terri Nunn is the BEST!!

  • Never realized how theatrical Terri Nunn was/is until I started watching old Berlin footage. Seems like she still wanted to be an actress even after she started singing.

  • The 11th Doctor on keyboards.

  • 2:20

That guy had too much "coffee".

  • This woman is so high.

  • ahhh.. the days of leg warmers, big glasses and even bigger hair!! lmao

  • Oh my God, the Doctor was in Berlin, that feisty Time Lord!

  • Nunn is taking herself too seriously. It was only pop music ffs.

  • Any monkey can re-make a song, takes real talent to write one.

  • FUCK YOU for loving meeeeee riding on the metro : )

  • You all are entitled to your own opinions, but I listened to the SOAD version, and it just doesn't have the feel of "a metro" which is what the song is all about, which is somebody riding on a train. I like SOAD, but their version doesn't compare to the Berlin's original version, especially with the driving synth tracks, which makes this song come alive when played in front of an audience. I'm glad that Berlin was able to reproduce this song "live" like it was played on the CD. Great job!

  • I know it is no competition, but SOAD made this song a great song.

  • Wow this was awful. System version is so much better...

  • Im here cuz of system of a down!! This song is awssome but system did it better

  • Being a teen in the 80's was awesome! The way of dressing and dancing takes me back to that wonderful time...LoL! This is right around the same time all the "Valley girl" talk was also a fashion, with polka dot, ruffled mini skirts.... This is exactly the way they danced at the school dances.... Ahhhhhh! LOVE IT!!!

  • terri nunn is sexy as a mutha fucka!! (:>)

  • systems version is way better^^

  • We're goin punking!

  • I thought I saw Molly Ringwald at 1:24 :)

  • Paris has to be one of the coolest cities....

  • LOVE THIS!!!! BERLIN IS AWESOME

  • no es traci lords . es terri nun cantante de berlin

  • yeah, minus the 80s hair, shes pretty hot

  • Like the song from the 80s said, "Those were the best days of my life." I miss my childhood.

  • @wynternight777 You're quoting Bryan Adams, I think?

  • @IWannabeJew Yes indeed. :) I'm a child of the 80s.

  • @wynternight777 True, but in the song he's referring to the 1960's.

  • SOAD - Metro is much better

  • Is this from the American tv show Rock of ther 80's?

  • She is sober...if you were as old as I am and watched them live, this ishow she always moved and sang....Sorry, she doesn't 'bust' any moves like wanna be idol singers nowadays.....more dance moves than talent or a singing voice....

  • Is it just me or does she look a little.... not sober? lol

  • Fuckin A, i remember watching them at the Whiskey ago go;s and Troubadour in Hollywood back in the days, damn had a huge crush on Teri Nunn i wonder what she look like now lol...

  • OMG this is so 80s!

  • Synthisizers...big hair...shoulder pads...garish make-up...guyliner...ah, this takes me back to good old days.

  • This has a funky ass beat. Love it! Gotta love the 80s

  • Dude this song is cool, and system of a down even did a cover of it

  • lol soad have cover of this song?? this is a real the metro!!! omfg this impact me xD

  • System of a down is the best but this song is still amazing!

  • sometimes I wonder if they compose so well because of drugs, sure that more than one was on coca or heroine... but just smoking joints an artist could be really creative and less auto destructive, in my opinion,

  • System of a Down did a cover of this song, that's why I watched this.

  • @CoconutMoltov me too...

  • Saw Beerlin live about 3 years ago. Teri Nunn is still gorgious. About a third of the way into the show she tore off her flowing skirt to reveal a tight black mini-skirt. Later she hopped upon the speakers squatted down and flashed the crowd. Turning side to side so everyone could catch a glimpse. I think even the ladies were turned on. I had so much fun dancing on my toes in the 80's.

  • LOL,....The 80's dancing so funny, that used to be me.

  • I saw them in Concert in 83, I was 12 then. I thought I was so cool for going lol. Anyway, awesome concert and performance. I really miss those days. Berlin and Terri Nunn will rock forever in my heart!

  • Always thought she was kinda hot.

  • This is one sweet piece of vintage 80's! Loving it!

  • How did we get from Berlin and New Wave to talking about Punk and Metal.

And for the record, guys from the Vandals

and TSOL grew up listening to real Metal

like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest and other hard rock shit. Then they formed

their killer hardcore punk bands, cuz that's

what was new and bitch'n. Then new

metal or thrash bands incorporated that

speed and attitude into their shit. So it

is really just a big circle in the end.

  • LISTEN UP FOLKS;

If any of you guys are looking for a certain particular Song/Rap/Mix that you just can't find anywhere. Most likely, I have it or more than likely, I can get it for you. If you don't know the name of a song that you heard, but there's a posted video featuring it, send me the video, and I'll get the song on a quality unmarked CD disk for you. For more details contact me.

  • Syndrome of a down... is nu-metal even commercially viable?

  • its funny how people act like it's about " owning" the song. system of a down loved this song thats why they covered it.

  • that's nice but none of us 80s style schooled musicians give a fuck what some dick licking S.O.A.D. e-tard thinks.

  • pb's fave band!

  • my god, this is better than the studio version. THIS is is how I'll remember this lineup.

  • a synth pop classic

  • she is smokin hott and I want to touch her butt

  • I just saw Berlin today at Santa Anita Park They are way better now. Terri Nunn is more at ease when she sings now, and Berlin has way better musicians now. They have a guitarist now, who may look new wave, but can play like he's in a heavy metal band. And I love the way Terri sings and smiles at the same time. She also shows off her pipes, which is almost as impressive as sexy (breast showing) outfit she wears for "Take My Breath Away", and "Sex".

  • theyve always had guitar.....?

  • I meant new guitarist. This guy is to young to be their original guitarist.

  • yes

  • berlin were always great musicians even back to the 1980 album without terri.

they play to the music and aren't trying to be classical music scale after scale virtusos. furthermore I could name 50 punk rock guitarists that are more complex than any metal band fuckcrap.

  • you can doubt it all you want but Warren from The Vandals would tear any metal dumbfuck a new asshole in guitar playing. The guy is freakishly fast. Same with the Vandals drummer Josh Freese. He's touted as the best drummer in the world. Go look him up. Better than neil peart.

Btw I like rock but blues and metal are faggot shit.

The greats are Les Paul, Leo Fender, Dick Dale, etc.

Without Dick Dale, fast music wouldn't even exist.

  • Another you metal tards need to learn is that punk bands did faster paced guitar well before you inbreds.

Discharge, TSOL, etc taught motorhead, metallica and slayer and others what speed was.

Slayer even covered 2 TSOL songs.

Metal is just SAFE major label promoted bullshit garbage and always has been.

    Case closed

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork Not being as fast as Discharged doesn't make one 'safe.

You are a poser. Case closed.

  • @ColtraneTaylor Sorry Loser but you're wrong. Discharge was slower than the dickies. The middle class was faster than both of them. Get a brain transplant dip shit.

    case closed

  • soad rocks!!

  • great version, but SOAD's is way better

  • agree 100%

  • interesting to see this after watching berlin in bands reunited...its on youtube some where

  • try and you will see who`s killing Who

  • HA nice square wave.I'''I..I

  • If I had been old enough to get into night clubs in the 80s my awkword dance style would have actually fit in.

  • Gotta love the 80's dancing:)

  • oh mi pequeña triste y bella , yo también te recuerdo...

  • Long live the synthersizer!

  • las mujeres al poder

  • Terri Nunn was in Penthouse in like 1977 or something like that.

  • Terri Nunn was almost considered for the role of the princess in Star Wars. She's younger than Carrie so she would have been 16 at the time. There's an edge to her, according to George, and being the first time I've seen this, I agree. He also said she's pretty but just couldn't play sweet and goofy. I wonder if there's audition video of her at that time. Intriguing.

  • System of a down are cock suckers and so are you

  • go and make you mother proud and kill your self plizzz?? s.o.a.d rocks

  • Dumbass

  • They also performed Sex (I'm A) at this showtime show. Anyone know where I can see it again?

  • bubblegum crisis

  • I loooove new wave, always have great song!

  • Did anyone hear the cover from Alkaline Trio?

That one is really good too!

  • System Of A Down took this song and made it

    10 times better!!

Still i like this version xD

  • I agree.

Though, I can't seem to be able to like this song after having heard the SoaD version :P

  • I hope you don't mean system of a down

  • You suck =)

  • In fact, System of a Down is metal... thats why I don't really like this version (except for vocals), and thats why persons who like this kind of music don't like SoaD's version... it depends on tastes.

  • However, there are some of us that enjoy both versions for entirely different reasons. I prefer to taste everything :)

  • I love this original version AND the System of a Down version.

In fact, it was the SoaD version that I heard first even though i'm into 80's new wave way more than metal!

Just saying, it is possible to like all kinds of music.

    You don't have to pick.

  • i cant find the studio version of this song on youtube

  • Funny, don´t known that SOADs Metro was befor an 80s Hit. And even if I´m 24 years young, I have parents...lol...I know 70s, 80s and 90s music and a little bit of grandfathers old music from the 50s and 60s. o.O

Good clip and a rare date...1 year older than me. XD

  • S.O.A.D. kicks ass, but anyone who thinks their version of "The Metro" is better than Berlin's needs to get their ears checked or head examined.

  • Haha, the way I see it is whichever one I'm listening to at the moment is the best one.

  • i have to say i really love soad but the original is by faaaar superior. Then again it is usually pretty hard to better an original hit single.

  • I can,t seperate the two of them when it comes to looks. They are both right up there with sex appeal.Look at Debbie on the clip for In The Flesh.

  • what iop sneaky[]

  • Listen to the System of a Down version of this! Much cooler!

  • Comment removed

  • I agree. Bella Morte did an awesome cover as well.

  • Rubbish! I checked out their version and no it isn't cooler. In fact their version sucked.

  • Sorry, the SOAD version is awful. Berlin's studio version is THE version.

  • por que en los videos solo salian tres integrantes de la banda o es q estos otros musicos q aparecen en el video eran solo invitados?

  • Berlin looks strikingly similar to blondi's Deborah Harris.

  • Hi britneysprsfan1.The band is called Berlin and the lead vocals were sung by Terri Nunn. You,re right. She does look like Deborah Harry from Blondie. Both very sexy women with very sexy voices.Good comment.

  • Awesome voice!

  • All sorts of awesome

  • I saw this band in the early 1980s. Incredible live act.

  • I remember Berlin performed in Disneyland that was our H.S grad-nite back in 1982.

  • dont you miss the 80s...the greatest decade ever.

  • Yes

  • Like the soad version better. Just reflects on my musical preferences. Much props to Berlin- the music-the lyrics are amazing. Something that soad couldnt have made

  • She s a fxxking Goddesss!!!

  • she always gives such intense performances.

  • if ya gonna try and find a band who cover this well check out alkaline trios version, its good.soad are a poor poor band who have a singer most people wanna punch.

  • An opinion not shared by everyone. Yes I do like SOAD a lot. This version has more depth, warmth and feel to it. It flows. The synth pulls you in and carries you from one line to the next. Serj is good just much different.

Terri owns this song. I grew up listening to this album.

I'm NOT saying you're wrong. It's your opinion. This is just what I think. I'm open to other views as long as people keep it civil. I just may not share them.

  • Just glad at least someone out there has a brain...

  • Agreed...

  • Sorry, but I don't agree. I think it's a bad version. Berlin's version is still #1.

  • Cool! Thanks for posting.

  • WORK THAT BIG 80's HAIR MISS THING!

  • Great performance. Gotta love the old 80's dancing style. lol

  • Poor Terri sounded like she had a cold.

  • What a great moment in time!

  • Very cool footage. Great group. I wish I would have slowed down back then to really enjoy them. I know Terry still performs the old songs but not the same group. They did get together once for a VH1 Reunion in 2002
