that nite, . ,Thanks for the post! We put on a Kiss lip sync concert in my friends front yard. Homeade stage , costumes, and guitars(made look a likes) At 8:45 we went in to see the show hosted Edward Newman I think it was. We even did a couple of shows (flash pods and all) at some high schools in central Ky. too! Man I miss thoughs days, they were magic to me! The Cat Man lives!!!

From the Destroyer LP. This was an accidental hit for KISS, like Black Water was for The Doobie Brothers. It was the flip side of Detroit Rock City. Black Water was the B side of Another Park, Another Sunday. This would become their biggest hit. They no longer perform it though, since Peter is no longer with them.

Every teenager in America knew this was gonna be on so they stopped raising hell and came inside at 9:00 to watch.I believe it was already #1. Even bigger after this broadcast. Then it was back outside for more wilding . I'll never forget it. I'm sure I'm not alone !

I remember seeing this on TV when it originally aired too. Back in the 70s, it was rare to see bands on TV so whenever you'd hear they'd be on you'd make sure to catch it. I remember seeing David Bowie on Bing Crosby's Christmas Special ("Little Drummer Boy"), watching "Midnight Special" on Friday nights and Don Kirchner's Rock Concert too. Because "Beth" was such a mainstream ballad, it "allowed" KISS to perform on a prime-time TV when they would never have otherwise.

This clip was from the Paul Lynde Halloween Special from 76. KISSology volume 1 has clips from the special but not this one. This was the year I discovered KISS. Destroyer was my first album. I made the entire KISS stage on my Lite Brite (they provided blank pages besides the patterns).
