  • I heard this for the first at a resturant in Belize back in 1998 when I was in 7th grade on vacation, I FINALLY tracked the song down after all these years lol

  • She looks like Rufus Shinra riding around in a limo with the Turks

  • Don;t know where I heard this song, maybe Village Station Dallas?

  • Yeah Kirstin,useless info

  • a nice classic remix; i remember being at being at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA when I first heard this tune. Thank you for having this remix dreampopgirl

  • I take it this the US version. too fast unlike the UK version but still not too bad. Why can't the US leave all the brilliant UK songs alone after all we make the best music and they make shite like Tamella Motown and Crap with the missing C. I mean why fuck up a perfect song when you can't improve anything that is perfect. They've not actually killed this song but they haven't done it any justice either.

  • @alecahauf This was absolutely a UK remix, by Motiv8 (a guy from Cambridge who also remixed other overly-English bands like Pulp and Saint Etienne *and* produced our Eurovision entry one year - Gina G.) There were four remixes on the original UK single and three more on the reissue, so it's definitely not an American thing. You might like the Mother Dub, as it's quite slow and dark. But the others are ridiculously cheesy and jolly.

  • @alecahauf Oh dear, no. Not at all. This is the Motiv 8 remix, and he's English.

It's a bit harsh to call Tamla Motown "shite", by the way. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but that's an entire genre of multi-generation inspiring music you're dismissing there.

And not all Rap is "crap". Public Enemy for a start are one of the best bands ever.

  • not my cuppa

  • Good 90s style mix, simple, compliments the song well, doesn't sabbotage the song at all.

Why cant music be as good as this anymore...

  • I couldn´t quite remember exactly who sang this song originally, I first heard the cover done by Lacuna Coil, and it is really good, but this definitively shows me that pop has great songs, words from a full mind rocker !

  • CHOOOOOOOOOON!!! brings back some mid 90's happy times.

  • QUALITYY

  • Funny how an uplifting song like this can be so nostalgic. Great feeling.

  • Does anyone know where I can get this song? I can't find it

  • o m g ! I was 11 but that was a HUGE hit amongst 11ers lol. Must have been a great clubbing scene for the older kids at the time !!

  • Comment removed

  • to me this is the best version of this track, uplifting the original well. it's not a classic, but the simple keyboard work goes really well with the original vocals and is very catchy. it feels better than the calmer version, but it is all a matter of personal taste!

also brings back fond memories of 90s dance music.

  • @djmikeeyb Shut up you queer!

  • @charlton747 what's your issue?

  • damn my clubbing days.love it

  • got this on the original single cd with versions its beautiful, thanx x

  • summer 1995...italy...i miss so much those times... :-(

  • good remix

  • Check out TRAN CAN COOK!!!

    They love this song!!

  • very good singer

  • I never get tired of this song.Takes me back to being 21.

  • 1st time i ever heard this was on sky sports after a leeds united match for the highlights video a very long time ago, gr8 song

  • Brings me back to the happy days spinning tunes in Norway;o)

  • I love this song, especially the remix. Here's a bit of useless info, I went for a drink once, back in 1995 or '96, with one of Sarah Blackwood's former housemates, a man called Charlie. It was a very random 'date.' When I hear this song, I think of him. Nice man. Sadly, not my type and probably vice versa!

  • Classic top tune,,,Simon Mayo on his Radio 1 days used to play an excellent extended version.....never been able to find it though...anyone have any ideas...its not he Way out West mix unfortunately....

  • It's the Motiv-8 mix that was on the CD single.

  • It says a lot about a song when you like all of the mixes.

    For me its

    1- Original

    2 Way out west

    3 Motiv-8 (this one)

That order changes depending on state of mind.......

  • I found this on an old school cassette and wrote the lyrics down and googled it and now im here.

    awesome song thanks for uploading.

  • Good god, i remember hear this on 103.1 back in 1999 in L.A.

  • This was on 103.5 in toronto.. summer of 96' I think

  • timeless.

  • nice remix..!

perfect when you wanna hear the song.. but in happy mode hahah

  • One of my alltime favorites still on my walkman all these years :) but im a techno fan too so i would say this verison is the one for me aswell hehe

  • I love both versions. Such beautiful music it is great to just relax and listen to after a stressful day at work.

  • video's a bit weird, it seems to repeat itself over and over lol good song though

  • This is one of the songs on the bbc's review of the world snooker championship 2004. That is where I first heard this song and it is wicked!!

  • heard this one on xm/sirus radio while driving home tonight, miss those days

  • I can never get tired of this remix or listen to it sitting still. Damn!

  • Original's better in my opinion.... but this is a decent remix

  • One of my guilty pleasures :)

  • I love this song. This remix is so much better than the original.

  • can someone help me by telling me who dose the original?

  • Dubstar did the original themselves - you can watch the original version on youtube somewhere.

  • I bought the single, this mix was on it.

  • A remix designed to blend in with all the other nightclub remixes, which is fine in it's place but not a scratch on the calmer drive and surge of the original which

A/ was more appropriate to the meaning of the song and

B/ which gave it it's distinctiveness.

  • way better than the orignal

  • hell no

  • I say that because I'm a fan of techno :D

  • Both of you are imbeciles , you can't compare two different genre's of music. The original and mix are both incredible in there own style and should be given credit where its due

  • I think its called the 'motiv8 mix' of this song

  • i think you are correct

  • Constellation Mix, I thought. It's how I got the song

  • You can get this version on a compilation called "Bigmix 96", apart from that I can't bloody find it anywhere.

  • It is also on the Stars: The Best of Dubstar cd. It is a hidden track found at the end of the CD after the song "self same thing." You can't find it by going to it so you have to go to the end of the song. That is where it begins. Its a nice "easter egg".

  • Brilliant song, fab video, best girl singer of all time - awesome!

  • Without doubt, the BEST version of this song!

  • Hi,

I like this REMIX very much - but I´m not able to find it on one of their albums. Does anyone know a way to get it ?? Greetz, Airmaxx

  • u can try limwire

  • you can buy it on ebay! search for dubstar stars. look for the remix cd.

  • i want this song, what albums it on?

  • Best of Dubstar... also on iTunes...

  • also US version of Goodbye - 3 different Stars mixes - the original has such a melancholy and wistful sentiment - it's terrific they're back -

  • thanks for that

  • its not on an album,u can get it on limewire

  • sounds like st.etienne.

  • Keep rockin!!!

  • Motiv8 rocks!1!!11!! Dubstar rocks!!!1!!1

  • 90's anthem

  • u can hear her god awful geordie accent coming through the song

  • Aw, I kinda like that about it but each to his own ey.

  • Motiv8 are just the best!!!!

  • anyone got the original video? not the remix one

  • lovelovelove this remix...the originasl is not bad-ish...but this version is just dancy-trippy-happy-beauty full.

  • Where are they from?

  • Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England.

  • i met steve hilier, the guitarist from this lot, proper safe guy

  • Ah, what am I thinking? There was no country version of Stars. It was 'I (Friday Night)'.

  • Are people commenting about the US album original version or the UK version with the crazy country music sound?

  • This remix is one of my favorite tunes ever. Great tune, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the original mix.

  • I love this song!!! it's fantastic!!!! it's very sorrowful for me . . .

  • i like this song'

  • Wasn't it referred to as the Motiv8 mix at the time?

  • So true. The original song is so bland.

I really needs to find out where i can get this song.

  • ohhh. so this one is the remix. i always thought this was the origional. NO WONDER I CANT FIND THIS SONG FOR DOWNLOAD. THE ORIGIONAL SUCKS ASS!

  • Beautiful, spectacular and wonderful song. Its one of the bests songs ever!!!

  • I used to listen to this remix version of stars by Dubstar on Gemini FM my local radio station.

  • i love this song this song!!! this my first time to see the video !! thanx =)

  • dubstar is cool.

  • Such a classic, fantastic song!!

    <333

  • Hi Crizla :) If you want to get that remix you should find it in the Dubnology part 2 Lost In Bass. The name is Stars (Mother Dub)

    Njoy! ;)

  • I directed this for the band in Death Valley CA years and years ago.. it was a simple but poweful concept and we had a fkn blast in the furnace.. The band are mad-cool people and the idea was to make an Epic cinematic clip for this classic song. The huge wideshots in the desert add a spatial scale/dimension to the imagery that is unseen in music videos, especially back in the day..

  • Great song/remix. Brings me back to senior year; college of course. Yes, the mid-90s, when you could get away w/ so-so videos for great tunes. 3 minutes of the same scenes played back; over, and over...Annoying, in retrospect.

  • Isn't that the area where they shot a scene for the movie Mr and Mrs Smith?

  • im looking for the drum n bass remix, any clues?

  • This is the Motiv8 remix, in case you wanted to know.

  • yes I did. thanx

  • Dubstar were so awesome. An Indie band and a Dance band that really blende the genres with some ace songwriting.
