Most people don't really pay attention to what they're paying in taxes but I do. For instance I keep track each year of what my effective tax rate was. For instance I just sent in my 2010 tax return and my federal effective tax rate was 16.15%.

I'll say right off that I'm a left-leaning fellow, however, there is no way that the stimulus package is going to do what needs to be done. In order to buy off the recession, a stimulus would need to be around $2 trillion dollars. Obama is using a New Deal strategy, but I don't believe that FDR ended the depression by throwing money at it, WW2 ended the depression. Personally, I think we would have been better off not spending anything.

In effect, when WW2 ended the depression, the money spent on the war effort may have been for a different cause but the economic results could be the same as the stimulus. You might want to ask yourself why countries that have economic problems can still afford war. When Obama took office the lending of money in this country was practically non existent which in itself is a recipe for disaster. That is no longer the case. Our options were limited.
I just think that if he was going to pass the stimulus, he shouldn't have settled for compromise. He needed to get the job done but he was very focused on bi-partisanship. Not to mention all of the favors that he threw into the thing, my personal opinion is that when your dealing with something as large as the economy, if your not making it better your making it worse. So far, I haven't seen the massive leaps in job production and capital gain that were promised.

Most people don't really pay attention to what they're paying in taxes but I do. For instance I keep track each year of what my effective tax rate was. For instance I just sent in my 2010 tax return and my federal effective tax rate was 16.15%.

in indiaiana every road you drive on is being repaved thanks to the stimulus. the problem is the current EPA director shut down 1 of only 2 factories that are lisenced to make highway paint. so none of our roads have strips. the contractors cant get paid until the job is done, and the jobs cant be finished until they get highway paint. i wonder how many contractors will go bankrupt waiting on paint?

I'll say right off that I'm a left-leaning fellow, however, there is no way that the stimulus package is going to do what needs to be done. In order to buy off the recession, a stimulus would need to be around $2 trillion dollars. Obama is using a New Deal strategy, but I don't believe that FDR ended the depression by throwing money at it, WW2 ended the depression. Personally, I think we would have been better off not spending anything.

In effect, when WW2 ended the depression, the money spent on the war effort may have been for a different cause but the economic results could be the same as the stimulus. You might want to ask yourself why countries that have economic problems can still afford war. When Obama took office the lending of money in this country was practically non existent which in itself is a recipe for disaster. That is no longer the case. Our options were limited.

I just think that if he was going to pass the stimulus, he shouldn't have settled for compromise. He needed to get the job done but he was very focused on bi-partisanship. Not to mention all of the favors that he threw into the thing, my personal opinion is that when your dealing with something as large as the economy, if your not making it better your making it worse. So far, I haven't seen the massive leaps in job production and capital gain that were promised.

What country are you living in? Last I checked the unemployment rate was higher than its been in years. Our debt is much higher than it was in January. Do you even realize that only 10% of it has been spent. And most of it is going to wasteful projects. Oh and the new deal didn't end the depression it made it 10x worse. When we develope a civilian version of the rocket launcher. Seriously, I like going to the range, I like hunting, and I especially like the freedom to defend myself. So when someone wonders when the "love affair" will end, I answer never. If you don't like it I am sure England is more your flavor.

Her husband was tortured for 3 years and then murdered. During that 3 years of torture he NEVER SAID A WORD. Your average republican, and their mentality. There was a study done on IQ's between Republicans and Democrats. No republican scored over 39. The average for Democrats was 137. I tested 184 as a young teenager, and I didn't want to do the test. That was like 40 years ago. I think I'm 20 points or so higher then that thief Einstein.
