  • @brodie9909 Why is it nice to see it? Adult males are SUPPOSED to have curled tails. That is just what happens as they mature. Just like their dorsal fins become wavy. Adult males dorsal fins later in life normally begin to curl at the tip as well. You see a lot of older bulls with just the very tip *barely* starting to curl and on the back of the dorsal, it is usually wavy and warped looking. As they mature, the tips of the bulls' tail flukes naturally curl under. Why it is nice to see, Idk...

  • @shamuluva Because their fin's are more greatly curved in captivity because they do not have nearly as much space to swim

    One theory is that in deep ocean waters, the pressure the water exerts on the fin allows it to remain supported while the collagen hardens. In captivity, however, shallow tanks lack sufficient water pressure to produce this effect, and the fin collapses before the collagen solidifies.
