@MrBuddydan You're correct: due to new electric turret gear and new stabilizer (from Oplot MBT) the speed of turret turning is 40 degrees/sec. Soviet T-72 - 16 d/sec., Russian T-90S - 24 d/sec. 40 d/sec. is quite OK: compare with Leo2 that has some 48 d/sec., M1A2 is slightly less - 42 d./sec., correct me if I'm wrong... Thanks!

With new gun (125 mm), engine (1000 or 1200 h. p.), transmission, new ERA, weight of up to 46 t, new sights, automated targeting system, etc. the tank becomes a rival to any upgraded T-72s, Leo1! Or even T-90, Leo2, Abrams... Of course, it would be hard to compete with later three, however, T-72 and Leo1 could be quite easy targets.

@angeloflove75 no, casanave es solo un trader de equipo militar, sus disenos se limitan a buenos tubulares, montajes y uno que otro trabajo de metal mecanica, no cuenta con un staff de diseno y menos con la infraestructura adecuada para desarrollos militares y mucho menos para producir tanques (lo lamento, pero sus instalaciones se limitan a un viejo taller de metal mecanica). Este upgrade es de diseno 100% ucraniano, casanave solo sugiera uno que otra cosa como cuando compras un auto.

Me parese que 100 de los T55 peruanos estan entrando a esta convercion (o ya entraron, pero no te lo puedo decir), otros 100 estan siendo transformados por peruanos a lansa misiles anti tanques ( kornet y spike) de los otros no se mucho,,pero no me sorprenderia que casi todos esten en buen estado, por ahi por las fronteras.

Well Hopefully if you do get a president like that make sure you upgrade the T-55's before going for the T-90's. I say that because the Ukrainians will probably be mad if you choose the T-90 over over their Oplot-M and then they'd drag their feet on upgrading the T-55's.
@deus257 i dont know about it, but i know the peruvian armed forces upgrade this tank the t 55 together with the kharkiv morozov machine building design, so this war tank is not only ukranian is also peruvian because this design is peruvian but the parts are ukranian.
Since the introduction of the T-64 Russian(Soviet) Tank 125mm ammunition was made up of 2 pieces, a shell and propellant charge like Howitzer ammunition. This was because the internal Auto-loader has limited space and these 2 pieces are stored in separate containers and loaded together into the Main Gun. This allowed all ammunition to use nearly identical propellant, but at the same time limited the capabilities of our APFSDS(Sub-caliber Armor Piercing) ammunition.
The penetrator can only be of limited length, and the ammunition has reached the maximum allowed length for the most common Auto-loaders inside tanks like T-72. To increase the length the Auto-loader has to be completely redesigned and rebuilt. Western Tanks like M1A1 and Leopard 2 use single piece(both propellant and shell in 1) ammunition, inside the penetrator can extend almost the full length of the shell.
The T-55AG has a new externally mounted Auto-loader.
This new Auto-loader allows the T-55AG to use single piece ammunition like on Western Tanks and has fewer limitations of length and size(which means greater armor penetration) when compared to the standard internal Auto-loader(which is still used on Tanks like T-90A/S), as well as more safety for the crew from ammunition explosions.
Such an Auto-loader design was also presented by Russian(the T-55AG is a Ukrainian design) Omsk Transport Machinebuilding Design Bureau in 1990's, but after the bankruptcy of the Omsk Transmash factory(which built T-80 Tanks) in 2002 it has become almost forgotten, together with the never completed "Black Eagle" Tank.
The main question about this T-55 upgrade is: Is this cheaper than buying a new T-80 or T-90 tank??

This was because the internal Auto-loader has limited space and these 2 pieces are stored in separate containers and loaded together into the Main Gun. This allowed all ammunition to use nearly identical propellant, but at the same time limited the capabilities of our APFSDS(Sub-caliber Armor Piercing) ammunition.

The penetrator can only be of limited length, and the ammunition has reached the maximum allowed length for the most common Auto-loaders inside tanks like T-72. To increase the length the Auto-loader has to be completely redesigned and rebuilt. Western Tanks like M1A1 and Leopard 2 use single piece(both propellant and shell in 1) ammunition, inside the penetrator can extend almost the full length of the shell.
The T-55AG has a new externally mounted Auto-loader.

This new Auto-loader allows the T-55AG to use single piece ammunition like on Western Tanks and has fewer limitations of length and size(which means greater armor penetration) when compared to the standard internal Auto-loader(which is still used on Tanks like T-90A/S), as well as more safety for the crew from ammunition explosions.

Such an Auto-loader design was also presented by Russian(the T-55AG is a Ukrainian design) Omsk Transport Machinebuilding Design Bureau in 1990's, but after the bankruptcy of the Omsk Transmash factory(which built T-80 Tanks) in 2002 it has become almost forgotten, together with the never completed "Black Eagle" Tank.
