  • He doesn't seem to have much skill, just shoots with a dead expression...

  • shit

  • Underrated movie. Shows that reviews have always been useless and still are.

  • @Mamii3 Can't we just agree that it's a good movie? lol

  • The pursuit of perfection. Pushing ones abilities to their limits physically mentally..it has always been the dream of man to do so. And 2013!!! This probably has been in the works fer real already. Forgive my grammer. *shrugs* Great film

  • my brother was the kid in the 2 row and the shortest he is 19 now and is making me watch the whole movie:)

  • 8:34

Kim from gears of war much?

  • My dad was the general in this movie!

  • so wat happen to my comment is it bad

  • wat if they remade this one ???

  • @HmongZboy Then Kurt Russell wouldn't be in it. LAME !!!

  • greatest movie ever made. a real mans movie for sure. the best part is the part with the dogs.

  • I so agree with guys. Soldier is a brilliant scifi movie. I recon if it were made today it would have been a success but I suppose it was ahead of its time. It must surely be among the top fifteen best Science fiction flicks of all time? A must see for all you Sci Fi geeks out there.

  • This opening scene with all the battles is the best part for me.

  • why send a boy under 18 to be a soldier when he wouldnt be anywhere near his best only the average man stops growing early why they pick the healthiest from birth.

  • He who fucks with Kurt, pays with their life.

  • @SatanicDoomElf todd or chuck Norris

  • They start training as soldiers from age 5 ,by age 17 they are @ end of training and (myth of Hollywood speaking) they can last well past the average age of a Regular soldier, (if not killed off.)

  • @thorshammer1348 Maybe they don't age as fast.

  • Now thats what I call ;A Proper Good Upbringing !!!

  • a 38 year old soldier? yeah right

  • It takes 18 years to train a solder in the future. Now it takes 6 to 8 months. That's what I call progress.

  • @g0801215 It takes 18 years of psychological programming to make them the "perfect soldier". Something we are not allowed to do in America...

  • Now this here is a classic action movie compared to the new shit they keep flushing out. Kurt Russel doesent say a fucking word he just kills people and fucking snakes. Fuckin A!

  • if u all want the best sites to watch movies online for free on just give me a holla ill give u the best sites and tell you the best players to use no downloads or bullshit installations are required to watch a fucking movie online so dont fall victim to that before like i did and so many other people continue to do

  • good movie a lot of sci fi movies of the 80's and 90's were very good and diverse wish i could say the same for the movies of today

  • 6:44 took me a few veiws just to notice tht they are all way to tall for those beds xD

  • That's the last time I read a review. I never watched this because it got panned upon it's release wayyy back in the 90's. Saw it on television last night and I thought it was a great movie.

  • 6:15 I'm not 100% sure that bullets would work the same on the moon, And that wierd guy Gary .B is their commandor this is insane

  • i loved this movie growing up

  • Hehe a real guy movie

  • Between Snake, Wyatt and Todd I must say that Kurt is 100% BADASS. And also 100% BADASS. Oh, and additionally, 100% BADASS!!! And yeah, 100% BADASS!!!

  • I like turtles. But I also liked this movie. It was campy and quite enjoyable for what it stood for. Kurt Russell ROCKS!!

Also, the person who commented right before me can kiss my asshole.

  • I love the fact that the entier like first 10 minutes it essentially shows how much of a assholes these guys are XD

  • Loved the film, but watching this part bothers me now that I've been trained to respond to the distress calls of children. Mark my words, boys: becoming a father changes every movie experience.

  • One day.. May be we won't see it.. But one day I do see a future like this.. Were picking babies out of a line up. Teaching them how to kill and be a solider.. Mark my words.. In most countries... Kids at 12 13 14 start to be part of war.. But that's in 3rd world countries.. It still bothers me tho., as a solider no kid should be in the battle field. They should enjoy there childhood..

  • Liked the last status update.

    PRESENT STATUS: BETWEEN WARS

  • jeeeeeezus help us! this is what the world'd be iffins them atheists ruled the earth! help us jeeezuz help us!

  • Remember boys and girls, Mercy is Weaknees and Weakness is Death.

  • Service Records: Commendations

    "Plisskin Patch"

    "Maccready Cross"

    LOL

    funny insider jokes.....

  • I actually accept this movie as part of the Blade Runner universe

  • they are like terminator ....

  • keep uploading movies men! thanks

  • HAHAHAHA this movie is set in the same universe as Blade Runner and Alien Quadroligy, 6:33 his profile shows that he's been at the Shoulder of Orion and Tanhausser Gate which was mentioned by Roy Batty in his soliloquy in Blade Runner , and 6:35 shows him having used the USCM smart gun , which was used by the Colonial Marines in Aliens.

  • Sick film.

  • luv kurt russel in this movie ..that's why i look it up here ..haha

  • Colonel Quaritch: The Early Years.

  • 2:44 Is the reason why TODD is going to be badass SOLDIER.

    DEXTERITY : EXCELLENT.

  • the future spartan soldiers!

  • love this freaking movie they kill that kids cuz in real war a slow person wud ge t the group kill kill

  • if u like this u kids youngin shud watch barb wire pamela anderson judge gredd dick tracy and 5 element

  • i like these movie as a lil kids u kids shud watch dik tracy & judge dredd they shud if u like thismake anime out of this it would be badd ass

  • Why would they kill a 12 year old child? Thats HORIBLE!

  • Wait a minuet, did they just kill a 12 year old boy?

  • @meatisdeliciouse yup! That's why that fucker ( Isaacs) died in such a "beautiful way."

  • well a good soldier wouldnt have let the kid fall behind in the run they would have dragged him forward, and as far as him shooting the hostage, that is correct i was in the army, your not a cop...your job is to close with and destroy the enemy, if they take a hostage it sucks for them

  • @KrumpetJr Roy Batty probably knocked his ass out and jumped the transport.

  • Hanna the new movie with Cate Blanchet is similar? The soldier for the future?

  • My USNSCC unit joked we were like this, some army guys while at training called us spartans, since we can train to be a soldier starting at 11 to 18, lol not this intense or dark, maybe if you go to one of the ELITE 5 trainings, the program within the program, I went through 2 of them, almost did 3 but got injured right before it.

  • Err... how did Todd reach year 40...or even year 21 walking out in the open in a war zone?

  • The movie is illustrating the conflict between generations, between ordinary people and authorities as well as the conflict between Todd the killing machine and Todd the human, the weak one, and it goes pretty well without pretentious over sophisticated methods, long sentences, laborious narrative stories, crappy wannabe artistical shaking-camera or phylosophical words; how many movies can do the same?

I was... replaced. By a bettter soldier, Sir. By a better movie? Well, not this time.

  • ahh gary busey i love him, he did a good job here i hate how he's killed by that arrogant little shit colonel.

  • Sick movie, certainly US propaganda for the Military Industrial Complex, canon fodder (aka fools) for the rich, corporations and banking elites.

  • @Pertemba40

what are you blabbing about? Haven't you seen the movie? That's not propaganda, that's COUNTERPROPAGANDA!

Military Industrial Complex that is turning kids into unfeeling weapons of war is a Bad Guy in this movie. Not a Colonel - he is just a product of the system. And Todd is a hero not because he killed a squad or two of supersoldiers, but because he overcame his programming and fought for what's right.

  • Like the fucking Sardaukar, aren`t they?!^^

  • @Mandalander yes and no, they are both the product of an intentionally brutal and lethal selection/training process, however, sardaukar were regarded as nobility and as such recieved the perks that would come with, the "Soldiers" were treated a bit more like slaves in the end, they were kept away from the civilian population when not in a conflict that dictated otherwise, recieved no special treatment in regards to status, and would be sent into war after war until they die or become obsolete

  • I've been reading up on this movie, for nostalgia's sake, most of the reviews seem pretty negative one of them was because "You can count all the lines Russell says on one hand" Is that such a bad thing? The fact that Kurt Russell portrays all the emotions and confusion in the soul of Todd with about five lines in the entire movie? Sure it may not be on par with Blade Runner, but compared to most the Sci-Fi flicks of the 80's this is quite good. It's a great film about someone gaining humanity

  • @thebaconboy well as you said most of the negative reviews stem from the belief kurt russel didnt have enough lines and the claim that there wast enough character development the character he played, but i think for the role this movie called for the lack of lines was fitting, given that the story has to do with a soldier being selected at birth and raised/trained in such a manner, then having to deal with the human aspect, an aspect that was supposed to be stamped out in the training process.

  • @thebaconboy

i agree, the reason Todd doesn't speak is becasue soldiers are only supposed to speak or respond when they are spoken too by a superior office ror commander. to time or patience for idle chit chat, and it holy shit i just said that off the top of my mind and the computer voice just said that at 1:55 they explain why the kids don' talk (that was weird man i havn't seen this in a while so knowing what was siad before it was said was iffy) war will last until man says enough like tod

  • @thebaconboy Watched it for the same reason but first off its from 1998 and second it got bad reviews from critics bc of the piss poor directing. Go to IMDB and look at all the goofs. good movies dont have a list that long. Period

  • @TrowaPX Yeah, but did you notice them when you first watched it before they were pointed out to you?

  • @thebaconboy Not that it even matters but yes about half of those I did notice.

  • @thebaconboy Agreed! I really enjoyed this film, it works on a lot of levels, and seems relevant today.

  • @thebaconboy Agreed! I really enjoyed this film, it works on a lot of levels, and seems relevant today. And yes, Russells acting was brilliant with only 79 words.....

  • @thebaconboy Thanks for this comment. I've just watched this movie today and I find it incredible, and am really happy I watched it. I was so surprised at the "5.6/10" on imdb. WTF. The setting and story are brilliant and there are many unique things about the movie. My other favorites are Blade Runner, Total Recall, Judge Dredd, Mad Max 2. I LOVE THIS SHIT.

  • THIS FILM IF FULL OF WIN! :D

  • If this is going to be in the future "More Things changed and more they stay the same"...war will always be part of our future and our lives. This new born babies being selected and be trained to be Soldiers and fight future wars.

    0:55 Stage 1 - Draft Board.

1:48 Stage 2 - Learning the values of a soldier.

    2:43 Stage 3 - Evaluation.

    3:11 Stage 4 - Physical Training Test.

    4:03 Stage 5 - Weapons & Combat Training.

    4:35 Stage 6 - Graduation from Training.

They do get hand to hand combat at 15 yrs old during their weapons training in stage 5.

  • @wildmann23 what kind ? krav maga ? pankration ?

  • @wildmann23 jajajajaj this people made a good soldier in 4 minutes nice . !

  • what on earth is going on wiht you people be glad that You Tube has a free movie which just fit your mentality, all you did is make a negative comment while i am pretty sure that you can wipe your ass clean and you dont even see when you change your underwear after just 8 hours it is full of your own shit for not wiping your ass clean, you expect that movies will be acting like in a real then we dont need either good or bad director, AND FOR THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE IN GRAMMAR CLASS PIPE DOWN

  • @ceboym THE KIDS MUST BE KIDS...THE WAR IS FOR ADULTS. CHANGE THE WORLD STARS IT FOR ME....

  • thisis what germany wanted for europe, perfect white strong people, get rid of the sick dumb unperfect, or 90/ pop

  • @badsign1980 oh oh there are lots od stupid Germans i live in Germany for a long long time perhaps when your parents is not yet born before 1973 I work wiht and i knew how their mentality is, one thing they are credited for is their manner of making a thing good but not all are doing it only in scientific community but again not all no offense toall Germans anyhow look back IF A PERSON THINKS THAT ANOTHER ONE IS A FOOL AND BUTCHER THEM THEN HE IS WORSE THAN THAT FOOLISH PERSON, NO master RACE

  • Parabéns por postar este filme (Y)

  • who made this

  • This movie always gets me pumped about joining the U.S. Army like my dad who's in Afghanistan right now.

  • @SFXBOXRANGER

lol...watch Starship Troopers when they're landing on the bug planet...that makes me want to join the Marines more then any propaganda...but this movie is more like HALO and how they made the SPARTANs :-/

  • @Kallosar true.

  • great film, i love how he killed the bad guy and got the pretty widow and her son @the end!

  • so unethical to do this shit but would be so badass to have soldiers like this

  • LOL...6:00 total cheeese man...wtf...lol...

  • Chuck Norris has met his match.

  • Yeah i seen this movie years ago and remember it better then gguitarcat3

  • this looks like a good movie

  • It's not all that hard to believe that a Spartan-style military culture could appear again

  • Kurt Russell and Gary Busey in a movie I've not seen til now? Brilliant! Thanks for uploading.

  • One of those movies I forgot about. I got to show my son this one..Time for Popcorn!!! Thanks for the upload man!!

  • One of those movies I forgot about. I got to show my son this one..Time for Popcorn!!!

  • The Battle at Tannhauser Gate! And the Shoulder of Orion!

lol I came here after watching Blade Runner

  • and this is how halo was born :D

  • @LUCCARDI SPARTAN I program

  • This was a great movie. And definitely underrated.

  • Kurt Russell got fucking jacked like never before for this movie

  • pause at 6.34 it shows he can use a BFG from Doom and a smartgun from Aliens

    BADASS

  • The officers are choosing aggressive infants to be future soldiers, the babies who cried out loud are their primary choice.

  • @ChiaKaCheng hmm i thought it was the quiet babies that were chosen? idk

  • @jabames no they would have chosen them based on potential aggressive traits, like a baby crying to be fed etc etc

  • Thank You Very Much for posting one of my favorite movies of all time!

  • Ya know something scary? Look up Project Talent.....

  • brings up the question: "what makes a human being human?".

  • This is so much like Rogue Trooper comic book, not exactly, but very similar.

  • todds always got his nigga by his side :)

  • @SynthetikFrequency I guess the military experiment needed a little diversity in the mix. Not a bunch of towheaded Aryans.

  • which one do you think is john 117

  • i think halo took a few nods from this movie

  • this movie turned me into a russell fan

  • This came out before Star Wars prequels. Wonder if Lucas took any of this when fleshing out the clonetroopers? The other move at the time was Universal Soldier.

  • And any movie with Jason Isaacs AND Gary Busey has to be worth seeing. Isaacs should be the next James Bond!!

  • Wasn't this the most expensive movie ever to go straight to DVD in UK? If so dammed shame. Critics always seem to rubbish Paul Anderson's movies while having orgasms over commercialised crap like Avatar.

  • i bet thos guys are still virgin

  • what is this rambo fiction?

  • 4 Medals of honor...geez...

  • so what won the hog or the dobermans?

  • why did they choose kids who are crying ? is there any link between that and strengh

  • My name's Kurt as well! Awesome.

  • tod grew up in the war like me againt the arab

  • When I saw this in the theater, many moons ago, wasn't the kid who dropped out during the run put in a cage and ripped apart by dogs while the other cadets watched?

  • @guitarcat3 lol no man ur getting it all mixed up i guess u havent seen this in i while huh ? just watch it all the way through im sure itll all come back to ya.

  • @guitarcat3 the kid who dropped out during the run got shot

  • @guitarcat3 i remember he was definitely shot. i havent watchied this yet, and last i watched i was 10... i dont remember any dogs doing that.

  • @guitarcat3

That would be a scene from "The Running Man", which is also set in the future.

In an advertisment for a game show, a contestant is climbing a rope lined with money.

As he starts grabbing the cash, he falls from the rope into a pit with Doberman's.

An audience is then heard laughing.

Is the only movie I can think of that has a scene as you described.

    Cheers.

  • The begining of this movie has always stuck with me, for some reason when i was 5 i wanted to be like those little kids and be trained too

  • Great movie, but once again Hollywood has ripped off the great sci fi writer Harlan Ellison. First with Termnator, now with this. Watch the old Outer Limits series for two episodes. Demon wirh a GlassHand & Soldier. You'll see what I mean.

  • I love the shooting range scene at 4:06 - 4:33 Brutal killers!

  • This is probably one of my favorite movies from when I was younger, finally found it.

  • Dude..I cannot get over how much Kurt Russell resembles Solid Snake

  • thx.. for uploading.. its a grad movie.

  • muy buena pelicula pero deberin ponerlo en español es la mejor pelicula de ciencia ficcion

  • has anyone reilized how old todd(the main charcter) would be right now? I have 14

and i figured out the years in the beginning of the moive.

    year zero- 1996

    year sixteen-2012

    year seventeen-2013

    year thirty-eight-2034

  • Thank you so much!! this is one of my favorite movies, Its behind Fight Club and Bang Bang You're Dead, but its my 3rd or 4th fav, and I watch ALOT of movies!

  • this movie is so fucking awesome

  • 5:35 Why is it always the poor Russians?! Anyway, cool movie.

  • THIS is how you train a military force.

  • Comment removed

  • The aspect ratio on this upload seems to be wrong. Picture is vertically compressed.

  • @JonLynnHarvey Unfortunately there are a lot of movies on YT uploaded like that so a 16:9 movie fills a 4:3 frame. I've even seen much worse when a 2.35:1 movie fills (no black bars) a 4:3 frame. On a new TV set you can force the picture back to normal just not at this hostel's computer.

A good thing is the the women look slimmer when standing (but fatter if lying down).

  • Were those M4s?

  • @shouavaj12 those were m4's that the recruits were using i know because my brother was in the marines

  • why the hell would you shoot a kid after twelve years of training him. Doesn't make any sense. Sick film though....

  • @pal007ombella Yeah, normally the fat guy cracks under the pressure.

  • @pal007ombella well sort of like weeding out the weak ones so no more effort will be expended on training, feeding, or otherwise trying to reintroduce them back into the civilian populace. brutal and inhumane but efficient i guess.

  • This was a good fucking movie. Watched it again last night on spike, good shit.

  • 6:36

    Cash Medal of Bravery

    Plissken Patch

    O'Neil Ring Award

    MacCready Cross

No Jack Burton Medal of Honor? lmao

  • was an okay movie not the best but decent for its time. when i was younger and saw it I thouht it was a great action movie but I have not seen it in something like 11 years.

  • Great movie :-) Kurt Russel is badass in this film!

  • hate to say this but this movie is quite terribly done..............definitely a B-movie..........

  • @worstalentscout B-movie? The budget for the film was 85 million. B-movies' budgets don't go that high. Plus, this movie is from over ten years ago, 85 mil back then was worth much more than 85 mil now.

  • @LiouTao

85 million ? what did they do with the money ?

no major stars ( don't tell me they paid Russell 80 mil )..............the special effects were horrible !

i would say if you take away Russell, it would be a C-Movie even.................the plot and storyline is also very very poor...............

  • @worstalentscout Sorry, not 85 mil, it was 75 mil. As for special effects, this was made in 1998, not 2008 you dimwit, these special effects are decent for a movie back then.

And movie production expenses aren't just special effects, there's also props and all that other crap that they have to buy and make for the set (eg. Crawlers).

The plot and storyline, I dun see how it's very poor, it's not that bad.

  • @LiouTao even movies made earlier than 1998 has better special effects.........i think most of the 75 mil was spent on promoting this movie !

the special effects seems to be from the 1980's........

take Alien for example, it was from 1979 and the effects were still very impressive even now............

  • @worstalentscout Name a movie that from 1998 that had better special effects than this. 1980's, 1990's, that's all before the digital age. Special effects during these 2 decades aren't that much different, they're mostly all mechanical effects, except for maybe the latter, since there's definitely some computer animation in Soldier.

Also, about the promoting, you're stupid. The 75 mil doesn't include promotion costs, film budgets don't include those.

  • I remember seeing this movie when i was a young kid and it becoming one of my favorite movies of all time. It inspired me to go train hardcore and shed all sense of fear and boundries. This movie like molded my mind and had an impact on who i became as a person lmao. I completely forgot about it till now =D
