@BrahnTheHandyMan Lol, kid your a retard, picking fights with everyone for no reason. This is a great video, as it has recorded a great piece of musical history that makes up our world. Nice job on posting this & peace be with Ron's family, cuz we miss him, too...
Ron Tabak was truly an amazing performer and an "Amazing Friend" - right Neil? Ron is definitely rocking the angels with his 'new' music - left us clean & sober and much too soon. RIP Big Guy!
Hi Racefan. Yes Darcy was the singer with Simon Kaos. Actually he is a very good singer....he is, how do I say it? A bit of a jerk. I have been in the bussiness for 40 years and have worked with far better singers than him that don't have his attitude. I live in the same city (Abbotsford) as him. Last I heard he is a vocal coach or something. There is a saying. Those who can...Do. Those who can't...teach know what I mean? Cheers. Oh ya I think he was in the band poker face as well.
If you are on Facebook, please visit Prism: The Ron Tabak Era. All the videos are linked there, as well as some awesome photography and memorabilia from the days when arena rock ruled.

I had not heard this song in many years. I have this old album somewhere and never did hear much about the group since the late 70's. I bought this album only because I loved this song and had forgotten about them until recently. Thanks for posting this. :)
Seeing Prism was my first concert ever. They were phenomenal live and came across more as a hard, rock and roll band. The media referred to them as a pop or bubblegum band and I think it had to do with the arrangements on the records which made them sound a lot tamer than they were live. Ron Tabak had a terrific voice.
I grew up in the states near Vancouver in he 70's and 80's and I use to listen to these Canadian bands liked Trooper, Prism etc. on the Vancouver radio stations. They were part of my childhood.
His voice was not like this when the song was recorded or in the ensuing years. It was higher and tighter. I don't know what year this video was done...but yeah it does sound like Axl.
I was talking to John Hall (the keyboard player you see there) the other day and he said the band took their life in their hands at these big festival concerts during the late 70's and 80's... People would fling quarters on the stage and hit people in the head and empty beer bottles. They would collect all the change at the end of the night and have a huge container full! I remember Phil Mogg of UFO got fed up with it, as well.
I've been listening to Prism since I was ten...thirty years ago. I was only 13 when Ron Tabak passed away and realized what a tragedy for Canadian music that was. He may be gone but his music and incredible voice will always remain.
Darcy (lead singer of prism) is really nice he was my singing teacher until we ran out of money to pay for it itwas so much fun i also got guitar lessons from the lead guitaristof damian marshall he is really nice al well his name is steve
@bj616 Hell Yeah! I find rock was best done by Canadians like Prism, Chilliwack Helix, Honeymoon suite, Rush.. If you liked this kind of music then give this site a shot 80sfantasy.webs.com
@bladekiller990 You know it man! Bill Henderson and Randy Bachman live on our island. Bill is a Hell of a nice guy while Randy really keeps to himself. I drive past his place every day.
His mother lived right next door to my cousin ...he's probably my biggest musical influence...I met him a number of times. He gave my cousin Michelle all his copies of the albums they released until his tragic death in 84....one of the nicest guy's I have ever met. I was all of 9 years old and to this day he is still the reason I sing.
On Christmas Eve, 1984, Ron was cycling across Vancouver to visit band member Al Harlow. He was struck on the head by a passing vehicle and brought to hospital by ambulance but told there was nothing wrong with him. He strongly insisted something was wrong and was arrested by police at the hospital. On Christmas Day, Tabak's mother was told he had been found unconscious in the police cells. His condition was grave: a blood clot on his brain. He died without regaining consciousness December 26.
Did these guys open for Loverboy on their Get Lucky tour in 82? That was my first concert (Colorado State Fair Grounds) and I remember liking the opening band but never really knew who it was.
From their self-titled 1977 album "Prism". Outstanding keyboard/synthesizer work by John Hall and vocals by Ron Tabak (RIP) - a great live performance......
looks like Tom Lavin of the Powder Blues on guitar .. haha .. I played the other night at a club with lindsey mitchell and am good friends with Tom and had no idea Tom played with Prism .. what a great band!!
Great song, great band. Check out John Hall on keyboards at "Joe Fortes" restaurant, Vancouver, B.C. every Sun. Mon. Tue. evenings. He's the best. What an honor it is to sing along to these great tunes! Kingsway Street, Dec. 1984 was indeed a blemish on Vancouver Police in the loss of such a great singer. We believe he went home to be with the Lord having received Christ as savior RIP
man this is so cool thanks for sharing this..i didn't expect to find live footage..man watchen Ron Strut belten out the notes..i gotta believe Sebastian Bach was heavily influenced..awesome thanks again
I listened to a radio show in Vancouver a year or so ago.. and one of the producer/engineer types who worked on recording this song said that the band wanted to do a song in the style of "Teenage Wasteland" by The Who.... check out the intro keyboards and the middle section... interesting and cool.... I love the early keyboard synth gizmo.... looks like the controls of the space-shuttle....
