To me, anyone who has Love for bellydance, the passion is a superstar! That's one of the lovely things about belly dance. It has been an evolution across the Ages in celebration of our girly-ness. Cabaret, as I understand it, was developed by Westerners and NOT how it was originally done. Although I prefer the Folkloric or Tribal style (it's Earthiness) I still have respect for those who choose that form, however.
i love belly dancing of all kinds too. sometimes i even mix up some of my favourite things from each one in one dance. i prefer some kinds more than others, but i still like and use different things from each. other types of dancers don't get at each other's throwts. and i've found the audience dosn't usually know the difference between the styles, and it's their opinion that counts, right? so there's no point agueing, it's stupid.
I have the highest respect for ANYONE who has the courage to get up in front of others to talk or dance and I will show my respect by not leaving during someone's performance and by not criticizing, whether it be cabaret, tribal, triberet, rockabelly, gothic, ATS, hulabelly, hoopdabelly, or whatever. And I expect the same in return. Thank you for posting this subject, Nika. We are suppose to be sisters in dance, no matter what style calls to us.
THANK YOU! I studied Tunesian and went to a tribal workshop, and I was treated like a complete idiot because I wasn't a 'traditional tribal' student. Made me SO mad.
Makes me mad too... it is the elitest attitude of all the styles that shouldn't be there. We need to support the curriousity of all dancers and open up everyones minds to the possiblities... it is all about the support, love and togetherness of an art form that is forever changing.
big hugs nika...you are indeed a nice person. I like how u put out your "two sense" and your good ways of ranting. You are indeed a very humble and kind spirit.Love visiting your vids...more power girls...thanks for your good sense of humor...u rock...
Thank you so much for watching. It is wonderful comments that keep me posting. I love all of you and hope that I am helping just a little bit. Hugz and thank you again, Nika
You know what--good for you. Women are supposed to support each other not tear one another apart. Good luck with that though. I love all belly dance I just perfer one style over another FOR ME!
??????????? I don't think my preference shadows other's preferences. I AGREE with you. All I meant was that I prefer one over the others for myself however I love all genres of belly dance and enjoy all the differnt flavors. Perhaps my comment came across wrong.
I never knew people of different styles didn't get along. Then again, I've only been belly dancing for two years. I agree though, everyone should get along being that we have some common threads. We all entertain in our own ways.
gotta say, this made me smile... it was like a typical vidblog, which is usually really annoying, but it was all bellydance stuff instead of emo whining... anyways the point you make about guess what, we're entertainers and if you reacted--- I did what I'm here to do and entertained you, was awesome
LOL... I am always perturbed after being at belly dance performances. Etiquete isn't taught and needs to be. Tact and respect are an utmost necessity... and that is what is lacking. Thank you for watching and commenting... Nika

Thank You! I find something great in every style I've seen. I don't understand purists.
If someone doesn't care for a dance style--then just don't watch. Myeh....And don't bother bending our ears over it.
Thanks, Nika. You rock!
