if you get under the desk then you die i never thought that getting under your desk was a smart idea and now they have proven it and if there ever was an earthquake i was in i would have been the only one to survive if everybody else got under their desk

Getting next to it will only stop things falling on that are perpendicular or near to perpendicular. If you get under a desk and there is a metal beam above you, parallel, you will die. The desk is the safest place. It was proven in the CTV building creche.

The rescue teams on our news said that when they went into the CTV building, (the most damaged building after the february earthquake) Although no one in the creche on the top floor died, the reason they didn't is because the children were under their desks and the teacher was under her desk.They found the children bruised and shaken, but OK. the desk were bent an broken,but there was space under there for them to hide.
@medusacascade100 the reason they didnt was because they where lucky there are many times when its on the first floor and the children die because the first thing that falls on them in the desk and i always thought it was stupid to go under something that will just fall on you usually when the desk breaks its the first thing to break and it falls directly on the children

Doug Copp admitted that he was a fraud and that he hadn't done any research. His theory has been proven wrong by many scientists and seismologists. He was never part of the American Rescue team or whatever he called it, and He never did any research AT ALL. I think I'll take my chances and get under my desk because I have been in earthquakes, I know what they feel like.
