We did this version with THelma ON THe British Rock Symphony TOur.. THat is the version she is singing just a lil bit slower.... But she can kick ass love ya TH...
@pathbird Yes, I too have been waiting for someone to upload. If it doesn't happen soon, I will go to my storage and pull it out--a major chore but I guess I am going to have to break down.
It's okay, but the gospel sound doesn't work for this song. In her slower phrasing and more punctuated style, she loses the power of the melody and chord changes. Listen to the original's tonality on the "when you change with every new day" and compare it to this. The original has so much more power with the instrumentation and phrasing. This is a caricature, imo.
Bucky2300, you are right. Have a look at the stupit reaktion to my comments.
Sure the lady can sing, very good, but not this song in this way.
"and when you change with every new day", no one who covers this song (the Coors, Rod Stewart, Julien Lennon), has understand the extraordinairy tuning in this sound (tones) in the same pitch.
brigh,hi hi hi hi higt, she she hee eeee hee Please sing it normal. This is not a song for a church in Alabama. Only the cover of Melanie has the quality of the original Stones Song, becaus she realised the essence of this song.
To JOIMPANNE - You're an idiot, obviously. I NEVER liked the song "Ruby Tuesday" until hearing THIS version by Thelma Houston. WOW - this lady is no spring chicken and can out sing ANY young singer in mainstream music today. Again, WOW!!! Great performance!
eplafan: I'm coming from Europe, the country of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms. I think there are many people in america, who have no idea of music. And you have first of all no politeness.
look at my favorits, good blues, but from africa. I said, I like Soul, and so black music, but not this kind. Have a look to my favorites or on youtube Miriam Makeba singing in Zimbabwe. That's Soul. Only Dunces make the shiftless comparision with Hitler.
Magnífica versión..
