  • hi

sind die scanner in den farben offen oder fest

  • hi, we have 4 of the 812's at our club some of them arnt as bright as the others would that be different globes maybe? ive tried adjusting there hight with teh screws on top. and also one of them works for maby 10 mins when u first start them then it gos to a black out mode or somthing. the light is still on cause i can see it through the casing but dont come through to the mirror.. any ideas?

  • Sounds like they need re lamping. As the lamps get older they lose their brightness and the colour can also change slightly too. Some of your lamps will be older than others. As long as the lamp positions are set as good as you can get them with the screws and the optics are reasonably clean then I would say its the lamps. Not sure about the other fault, you could try resetting the unit when it blacks out. Maybe the grub screw that holds the gobo or colour wheel to the motor shaft is loose?.

  • yeah, ive set them up the best i can, and cleaned the mirror n all that. might get some new globes for them, 1 is nice and bright, the other 3 are not. n also i looked into having a look at the gobo wheel but it looked like to much shit for me to unscrew.. also resetting it does not help, try'd that. the light is definatly on tho. i might get someone to pull it apart and have a look that knows what there doing.

  • the 218 is achualy a very good light all tho they r heavy and a pain 2 get working on DMX especialy mk1 but if ur good with electronics you can by damaged units on ebay very cheep (£30 each ) the thing i have found with martin eqwipment in general its extreemly long lasting and you neva get many problems

  • ye i dont know iv never had the chance to se 218 working.

if i had the money i would buy the clay paky miniscan hpe they ar very pricey but they ar the bomb and they ar 300w i live in perth western australia and alot of the clubs here ar using them. but for the price the 812 is good value for money,

  • i hav six of these lights in my bedroom with a 2308 controller

  • your very lucky, what would you say is better, martin roboscan 812 or 218????????????????

  • In my own experience The 218s are bigger, heavier and have rubbish optics so the light output is hardly brighter than the 812s. they have more colours and gobos but you don't really need them all. Also the motors that move the mirror sound like extremely loud 80s dot matrix printers. Ive also noticed that the dimming wheel warps in the heat and gets stuck after a while. As you can tell I prefer the 812s but im sure some will disagree with me.

  • thanks, lots of people are saying the same kind of comments, i saw 4 martin 218s go for £194.10! then i saw 4 martin 812s go for £287.41. I was quite shocked to hear that about the brightness being they are 200w discharge sources on the 218 and the 812 roboscan 150w discharge. on the strobe effect, what is the maximum flash per second for the 812 and the 218???

  • I don't know the numbers but I think the 218 has a slightly faster strobe rate. it has a metal flag that it usees as a shutter that it rapidly moves back and forth. The 812's shutter is just a blank on the gobo and colour wheels so it has to move the whole gobo (or colour wheel depending on the effect you want) back and forth.

  • thanks for the advise again, great lights they are to have, i am 12 and startiing up my lighting rig, and cant wait till i can finally get these lights, they are great!!

  • nice scanners, i would love to own 4 roboscans, but cant find any, has anyone got an idea of where i can get them lights for a sensible price?

  • Im sorry to say I have just sold these 812 scans to my mate for his bar( I wish I had not now but its too late). Your best bet is ebay, they are on there all the time. That laser is on there now too.

  • can you tell me what laser that exactly is? I can't find any "eu pro laser". Which brand?

  • It was made by a company called 'EU lights'.I cant find them on the web I don't think they exist any more. To be honest it was £1200 new 5 years ago, for that money now you could buy much better. It only had 12 programmes. No Dmx or idla control either. I sold it on ebay recently for about £130.
