two computers, same mouse n keyboard using Win2VNC

I have the same kind of setup in my house, though with 4 different computers and my Laptop, each in different rooms. It can be pretty useful sometimes, especially when I can chillax outside side and use the Wireless ability of my Laptop from my lawn and use the other comp's and internet from there.

My brother/roommate (we're both renting a house with some other people) often msg's me from his comp. to my Laptop outside, where I can use his desktop/problem solve from outside!

I use that same program so my friend in florida can remotely control my computer from 1011 miles away. (he fixes my computer when i break it hehe)

It would be sweet if you like connected the same mouse/keyboard to 5 computers and made 5 accounts on an online shooting game like Combat Arms and then you could controll 5 people at once it would be so epic!

Run REAL vnc on computer u want to control , run win2VNC on the controling computer . hover mouse over Real VNC icon running in bottom right to find ip adress used . use ip PLUS :: & post number . ( i had to use a VNC password in Real VNC options) GL setting it up took me 2 hours !

that's what makes it all magical. no special hardware setup at all. mouse and keyboard connected to primary pc, software is set to detect when mouse moves to secondary pc (via hitting the west wall, in this case.) software sends signal to secondary pc that controls it. the good stuff is in the software... 8)

You can get just about any software you need free just do a search on "Freeware" and then whatever you need. It only takes about 20 minutes to find a quality program that does what you need but it saves money. I'm pretty familiar with allot of available free programs so if you have something your looking for I might be able to help.

I use synergy as well, I can't live without it. I have 2 linux computers and love using the same mouse and keyboard for both or even 3 like you have

There's a program called synergy that can be found at sourceforge. It's free and and it does the same type of thing this win2vnc does, but you can move from a pc to a mac to a linux box. And you can copy/paste from one to another (even across OS's)

you actually tell win2vnc which monitor and which edge of the screen (east, west, and etc..) you want it to leave your main computer to the other. pretty sweet stuff - technology is grand.. sometimes. LOL

Well, Win2VNC is kinda like a RealVNC hack that gives the appearance of 1 mouse/keyboard for 2 machines. But RealVNC itself is probably like gotomypc. But I sure wouldn't pay for gotomypc with realvnc around (free).
