I met them at a figure skating exhibition in 1993, got their autographs and a little chat. She was all smiles & he was very shy, lol. They were soooo worthy winners of that Olympic Gold. I was in tears by the end of this performance and it still makes me very emotional.

Wow, ice dancing must have been exceptionally boring prior to 1999 then. Looked like a lackluster pairs skate with no big tricks. Poor dance holds, poor dance spins, poor dance lifts, unvaried music. Highly repetitious...

I guess they at least set the stage for a decade of great ice dancing for the 2000's

@HotCompetition Actually they aren't married. Platov was married to another figure skater during the 90's, they have since divorced.

I absolutely will never forget this particular performance. They were fantastic. Excellent execution and choreography. I'll never forget this free dance especially because she looked like she was snowboarding between his feet when he pulled her through over and over again.

For me, this was the Moment. I don't think I even took a breath during the entire performance!

The costume,haunting music, speed,power,emotion,all those gymnastic moves & one of the best choreography!

I truly understood why coach Tarasova was overwhelmed with emotion and broke down.

It was the most Captivating performance!!!
