  • A very minor case of serious brain damage will make you see this. xD

  • there is allot of bugs on third person wheatly looks like a bookshelf

  • your kidding the arrow keys? lol

  • I hate your voice

  • @boolpropable

Thanks. I got a good laugh out of your comment. ;-)

  • @GT500org You should use a pop filter.

  • @GB0tr

Yeah, the headset I used at the time had too long of a boom, and every exhale would hit the mic, so you'd get those noises when talking. I don't use that headset anymore, so fortunately it isn't an issue in future videos.

  • It's not a bug, the level designer did very well here. You aren't really in the motel room, it's just a camera. The "real" player is inside this black pitched room. Without this system it would have been impossible to make this container ride. They also said that in the Developer Commentary.

  • Yeah, i had this problem too.

When wheatley takes u to GLaDOS and your flying through the

tube, chell is just standing in a room of pitch black w/

one tube in the room. just...weird.

  • I used the console to bind a key to the third-person command. I don't really remember what the third-person command was (if I did then I'd tell you exactly how to do it), but it isn't normally activated by a key on the keyboard, which is why I had to use the console to make it possible.

  • What button on the keyboard did u push to make Chell appear on the screen?

  • its broken because the room is just a model of its own

  • yeah in the develepor comentary it asays that there was a virtual room and one you see with objects in it and you somehow are seeing the virtual one because i t wasnt meant to be in third person

  • Not trying to troll here, but, as many others have probably posted, to make a room with those collisions, textures, AND the player in it, at the same time, will lag your computer horrendously. I noticed it too, but didn't post it. =P Lol. Give this video thumbs if Chell's hair really does look like a mop!

  • Long story short, the moving room has no colision and cant handle chells body, So they kept the third person model and camera in this room while the first person cam moved with the room.

  • @andreizetu

    Troll much?

  • @andreizetu shush

  • well, its better than mirrors edge third person :))

  • What do you use to record? The video quality is amazing o.o

  • @JayandNoPlay

I use the Pro version of Fraps to record, and then I use VirtualDub and the Xvid encoder to recompress the video before I upload it. In Xvid's configuration I set single-pass encoding with a target quantizer of 1.50, and that does a decent job on quality while still lowering the file size quite a bit from the original. Multi-pass encoding would be better of course, however my old computer isn't that powerful, so I stick to single-pass because of the shorter time it takes.

  • ...What's the bug?

  • @FaliusAren bug is that u cant see the desk but its still there cant see the potted plants but its still there also theres a thing called listening and watching

  • @FaliusAren Turned off when the bug didn't happen at start of the video. Do that....

  • yeah I looked at this already

and when you jump into the first test chamber, the whole environment above it, the room and wheatley, all that changes

  • Comment removed

  • yeah nice tongue sounds.

  • is not a bug

  • You're in the room everyone is in during that scene, it's impossible to have you actually in the room as it moves. Valve explains this in the commentary.

  • You use arrow keys? Are you left handed?

  • @1jim3bob

No. Back in the day, you played Doom/Doom 2/Duke Nukem 3D/etc. with the arrow keys. I grew up on that stuff, so I always rebind the movement keys.

  • @GT500org Interesting... but isn't it somewhat unconfortable? You use the middle mousewheel to use stuff. What else is changed?

  • @1jim3bob

It actually seems more natural to me than using W/A/S/D. I just put my left hand on the right side of the keyboard.

I often bind Delete to Next Weapon, I also bind my chat keys as Insert and Page Up. I like to have Backspace show me the score screen, and I often bind things to the keypad buttons that are near the arrows. I also always bind / as Prone in games that support it. I tend to use Shift as my melee button as well. Mouse Wheel Down is almost always my reload, except in TF2.

  • @GT500org i use auto-reload in tf2, that is most easy XD

  • @GT500org oldschool gamer haha :D

  • @Brunn0121

Yeah. Some of my favorite games were made by Apogee, Epic, and id Software back in the early 90's. While everyone else was playing Nintendo, I was on a PC. Did have an Atari and a SEGA Genesis though, but most of the games I played when I was a kid were PC games. These days I won't even touch consoles. I can't stand those analog sticks!

  • @GT500org yeah me too, id prefer nintendo joystick!! haha :D

  • @GT500org wasd is more practicle since you can reload with r and crouch with ctrl and have e as the action key then use your scroll wheel for switching weapons

  • почему у неё такие маленькие сиськи????????????

  • @TheDepytat007

Perhaps because she has an athletic figure? Not every video game developer makes 3D models of girls with unnaturally large breasts.

(Пожалуйста, простите мое использование Google Translator) Возможно, потому, что она имеет спортивную фигуру? Не каждый разработчик видеоигр делает 3D моделей девушек с неестественно большой грудью.

  • i discovered this,too.when iused noclip with thirdperson,but i ddnt recorded it

  • @SovietScum her hairs even worse in portal 1

  • I know what the room is It's called a prohetion room. Where the room u starterd in before teh 9-9-9-9-9-9-9- part when u go in the bed it gose whtie then it teleports u to another room but if u have third person mode on that happens. if u noclip out off there you can see the room with wheatly and stuff in it

  • WTF!

  • @SovietScum

I agree 100%! Alyx's hair was... Very messy... Of course, I always play Half Life 2 with FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod, and the hair looks a lot better in that mod than in the normal game.

  • portal 2 3rd person actually looks awesome.

  • @Glasid4131

It would be more awesome if the portal gun actually fired in the direction you were looking. Unfortunately it only fires in the direction Chell is aiming the gun, which is not centered with your view.

  • I found this too!

  • What happens if you go back into first person while this is happening.

  • @ghostshadow25

I'm pretty sure it stays that way. It's been just long enough that I don't remember.

  • @GT500org I don't think it's a bug. Read what mizusajt

  • @ghostshadow25 it goas to the proper room part... so this is not a bug.

  • When it does this it stops running on my computer.

  • @haileyrailey

It could have been changed/broken in a patch.

  • @GT500org I guess a lot of people have the same problem and it's not because of third person mode :/

  • @haileyrailey

Interesting. None of the guys I play Portal 2 with have mentioned anything about issues with the intro. Are the issues on a non-PC platform such as XBOX or PS3?

  • @GT500org Nope, I am playing on an HP laptop running with windows 7. It always says "portal 2.exe Has stopped working". It's a common problem I guess. But I've only seen videos on how to fix it if you got it illegally. And I got it free with my PS3 version

  • @haileyrailey

My father recently purchased Portal 2, and he's having a lot of crashing issues too. He couldn't get through the intro, and I wasn't able to fix it, so I used the 'map' command on the console to get him past it until some fix comes out for whatever the issue is. I have a feeling that his crashing may be an audio issue with the VIA HD audio drivers for his motherboard's onboard audio, but I don't know for certain.

  • In the Developer commentary mode, Valve notes that making the room move around was difficult, and the physics didn't look right, so what they did was they had a virtual room (the one you see in third person mode) track your movement, while the textured room moves and has the objects reacting to Wheatley's sloppy piloting.

  • @mizusajt

OK, so that explains the weird textures. I wonder if they forgot to script that sequence for third-person mode?

  • @GT500org The game was never made to be played in third person. No need to scrip it in.
