  • That's so awesome! And your equipment looks great :D Just so other viewers know (who might not be so handy with tools and stuff), you can buy equipment from theagilerat dot co m. They also have a great page teaching you how to make your own, too.

  • AWESOME X 100!!! Great! That rat looks very intellegent and like he enjoys doing the course. and thats what its all about, him WANTING to do it, the treat at the end was just the icing on the cake!

  • Awesome, I miss owning a rat. I have two mice but they are too shy to do tricks like a rat

  • beautiful, I love rats!

  • cute

  • where did you get the stuff to train with? did you built them yourself? :)

  • Yes, it's all self-made. I don't think there's anywhere you can buy rat-size agility obstacles ;-I

  • That rattie is smarter than my dogs!! I love him!!

  • @jungefrau or at least not as lazy.

  • That has nothing to do with training rofl...you had food in your hand and the rat was hungry and following you for it. You can do the same with a dog the very first time.

Teach it how to do a hard course without any guidance. That = Trained.

This just proved your rat was fat and hungry.

  • Hi,

the food was just for the filming - I needed another person to operate the camera, and that kind of irritated the rats. Usually, they would do the course without any treat.

AND Mr. Knightley was not fat!

  • Awesome! Just shows how intelligent they are if you give them the time and chance to show it ; )

I have 2 dumbo females that I was gonna try clicker training with, they're over a year now though probably too old.

  • Hi, I wouldn't think so. I had two rats from an animal shelter, they bit me and scratched me and they were absolutly shy, and in the end, they got really tame. With rats, I think it's never too late ;)

  • Hi, in my experience, rats are best to train when they are about 6 months old. (Deirdre was an exception, she started at 3 months.) The simple fences are fairly easy to train. The tube and the up-and -down fence at the end are for more progressed rats ;-)

  • i dont know why but i piss myself laughing when i see a rat eating

  • Nice

  • so sweeeeeeeeeeet :D

  • so cool :D

  • bravo! :D My rat hasn't any abilities... He only steals peanuts and tea. :P

  • i like the part with the rat in it

  • its a very big rat.

  • Hey!

Awesome! Would you mind me asking where you bought this? Or did you make it? (:

  • The obstacles are self-made. Visit Eva's Rat Agility Page for instructions on how to build them.

  • :o OMG why can't I teach my rat that??

lol that is so awesome =P

  • hehe, awesome :D

  • In animal shelters, that's often a problem due to lack of personnel. The rats get their food and water, and that's it.

In animal care organizations, where they are in private care, they are usually treated very well and also get the chance to get used to humans. Those are about the best rats you can get - the caregivers can tell you a lot about a rat's caracter, so you can choose just the right one(s) to fit into your pack.

  • LoL.. a very lovely and tamed rat. You ahve done well!! Do you mind me saying he is a very fatty ratty.

    Cam and Molly

  • Cool video! Well done on you for choosing rescue rats, too :)

  • Thank you! it's self-understood for me. I couldn't leave rescue rats for timing ...

  • How long did it take you to train her well enough to do this, and how also would i train my rat to do this, and where do i get all the equipment?

    thanks

  • Nice!

  • Aww...he's a chubby little boy. Very cute, talented too.

  • Nice! Rat agility :) Love these animals, they're so adorable!

  • That is just the cutest thing. Your rat is very good at it too. It looks like my tinkerbell I had.

  • I don't buy any rats from shops or breeders, but get them from animal shelters or animal care organisations. Here in Germany, we have so many homeless rats that it's really not necessary to encourage breeding or trading.

  • WOW!!!

  • did she get angry at the end?

  • No, absolutely not. He does that for show, prancing about and acting like a wild and dangerous rat. ;-) In fact, he's a real darling.

  • its SOOOOO squishy!!! I have squishies myself lol

  • Awesome ! I have 2 females , one dumbo and one regular. How do you get them to concentrate ? I know mine would be off under the sofa or something !

  • That's basically a question of choosing the right moment - it's no use trying to train a rat when she is not in the mood. Then get their attention with little treats, and once the first rat starts training, the others will usually join.

  • your rat is smart, did you make the obstacles yourself?

  • Yes (to both - Mr. Knightley is really smart, and the obstacles are self-made.)

  • u have a really smart rat

  • That is a huge rat!!! Mine are only a third that size! Great video, by the way, I think I'm going to teach mine to do that. =)

  • Did you build the agility course or are these things that you purchased? Care to share your secret? lol

  • I built the course myself, with inspiration from Eva's Rat Agility Page. There are a lot of useful instructions for building fences.
