@mizb0omtr in the stage version of peter pan the title character is always played by a women (i mean i've heard rare occasions of teens playing it but this has been only once)
@turquoisesurprise ...Ok so maybe the first 5 years of my life >_> and then the rest was everyday after school and weekends and vacations... Every bit of free time I got....
My grandma got me a CD with this song on it... I've since lost the CD, and I've been looking for this for a while. So glad I've found it! This song really makes me happy.
I watched this movie 10 times a day, every day of every week of every month of every year for the first 11 years of my life. I know every line, every movement, every song, every dance. I live this movie. And I'm 15 years old but that is my childhood right there. I still walk and dance and talk like that to this day :) And I am proud.
I saw the original Broadway show as a small child - it was a Wednesday matinee ... my mum tells the story of when the song - I Gotta Crow - came on ... I was echoing Ms. Martin ... lol. Somewhere among my vinyl LPs, I have the original B'way cast album ...
@ghostie7790 Originally yes. A movie was made in 1924 using most of the dialogue from J.M Barrie's play. Then Disney made its movie in 1953, and then Mary Martin and her costars first did it on TV in 1955, reprising their roles in 1960 for the version seen here.
Nibs is a lost boy. One of my friends got him and I got 1st Brave (an indian.) They are both really fun parts and the lost boys are feature in many funs song (like this one!)
I was in the fourth grade of elementary school when I discovered my teacher was Mary's sister-in-law. Our teacher, Mrs. Tomlinson, hoped to persuade Mary to visit our class at school; unfortunately the visit never happened. I have fond memories of Mary Marin's performance as Peter Pan.
Mary Martin was Larry Hagman's mother. Hagman was the star of "Dallas" and "I Dream of Jeanie". Mary Martin, later became a Broadway actress and his father, Benjamin Jack Hagman was a district attorney. In 1936, when Hagman was five, his parents were divorced.
Mary Martin became a contract player with Paramount in 1938, and occasionally brought him to her movies.
The closest Mary Martin came to preserving her stage performances were her famous television appearances as Peter Pan (she had starred in a musical version on Broadway in 1954, and this production was subsequently performed on NBC television in RCA's compatible color in 1955, 1956 and 1960). While Martin did not enjoy making theatrical films, she did apparently enjoy appearing on television, as she did frequently.
Mary Virginia Martin (December 1, 1913 November 3, 1990) was a prolific Tony Award and Emmy Award-winning actress.
Martin as Peter Pan, a role which effected a plausibly boyish look for her with minor costuming, equating the character with the actress in many viewers' minds.
That's William Snowden, who played Friedrich von Trapp in the original Broadway production of 'The Sound of Music' (with Mary Martin as Maria!). If you look on YouTube you can find a clip of the kids from the cast on the TV show 'What's My Line?'
This brings so much memories i almost forgot thanks for posting this it reminds me when i was younger and i would awlays sing along i used to luv this video
Hehe. I love this! I came looking for it because I had the urge to watch something that I haven't seen for a really long time...It was my favorite movie when I was little! LoL. So I broke out the VHS! It was SO awesome after all these years...Mary Martin looks like my aunt...except blonde.
i remember them too! i study hard and now i can sing I Wont Grow Up, Hook's Tango, Hook's Tarantella, Hook's Waltz, I'm Flying, I Gotta Crow, Ugg A Wugg, Wendy
This girl who is playing Peter is a little too tall. But we are putting on this play at our theater. I really suggest you read the Peter and the Star Chatchers and Peter and the Shadow Theives. It is a cute story about Peter Pan and why he has a fairy and can fly. Highly suggest it!
Oh my goodness! I cannot believe you have this on here! I've tried so hard to find clips of this movie. It was my favorite as a child, and i've had so much trouble finding it on dvd. hell, i'd be happy to have a copy on vhs! haha
