To be honest, sometimes I go in some cosplay event in my country, Italy and I must say that everytime, I always think that in Los Angeles, France or Japan itself it's better, because here they only 'dress' a cosplayer... in japan, they are more than this. They don't act, or imitate nobody, they do these things because they like it, it's not that they are copy. What you think?

@Satsuki843 sorry for the delay. so you're saying that people dress up like this to mimic mangas, but Japanese wear "costumes" as an original fashion? If so, that's not quite true. I've been to these kind of festivals in Japan a few times, but people do imitate manga(or anime) characters. Few people do dress costumes to go out as their fashion.

@yukarlin No, I mean, other people from other countries 'imitate' japanese (who imitate mangas).. but japanese do this in more natural way, because they imitate what they invented.... americans, italians etc... do these things to emulate japanese... for example, when I watch japanese blog's, girl dress kawaii dress, cute poses and I notice that other nationality girls, try to copy japanese, act like them, copy their style... but it's quite innatural and I think it's lack of personality!!

There are many fashions styles like gothic lolita (or almost all lolita styles actually) that are Japanese but come originally from western culture: Rococo, Victorian etc...

Some people in the past said that a non-western guy with tuxedo is unnatural, you'd have been like those.

Culture is like a boomerang, everyone is influenced, each in their turn.

well, japanese ARE good cosplayers, but as some mangas and game characters are designed as westerners, americans or italians cosplays better! but sometimes, I see non-japanese cosplaying and scream in my mind, "close... but thats not how you dress it!" like for example, the heirstyle, the length of the skirt, the material of the clothe, or even the angle of your poses...japanese have a special meticulous attention to detail.
