We're required to go to mass on Wednesday at my school each week. My music teacher (who's been quite stressed) has been watching this nonstop for the past week. She showed it to every class and every member of the staff. Then, today, we sang this for church. If you can guess the reaction we got, I'll give you a cookie.
This is when I went from a mere crush to outright burning love. Sign me, an aging Catholic school girl. I hadn't sung that song in decades, but I immediately knew every single word and sang along!
Oh yeah, he was so raised Catholic. I have to wonder, after making us sing all these weird songs back in the 70s, how is it that anyone is left in the Church. Spend a few years singing songs like this as child & you will think all religion is just as insipid.
@Cajaquarius: I actually sorta like Who Is The King of Glory. I think it is actually a fairly ancient song but not a Western or Latin one. I think it might be Jewish. It is Kum-bye-ya which still gives me nightmares.
@VictorLepanto Yeah, that song is pretty boring. I hear Colbert teaches Sunday School at his church to this day. I wonder if he incorporates his humor into the teaching. That would be fun.
@Nonamearisto: Which is actually kinda rare in some some Churches. Not that I am all that anti-King of Glory. It is actually a fairly interesting song & a very interesting take on the psalms, though I can't recall exactly which psalm it references.

I for one cannot believe that we were not graced with such dancing and music on Sunday during our Extraordinary Form
High Mass, given that it was the Feast of Christ the King and all. Man, do I ever feel jipped! Lol!

@Cajaquarius: "Sunday School?" Not CCD? Am I to take it from the term that he is not Catholic anymore? Or are just using the more generic Prot. term?
VictorLepanto 1 year ago
@VictorLepanto No, he says he is still a catholic and I read that he teaches sunday school, or CCD, I guess. Not sure the proper names for it.

@VictorLepanto I hear that song every now and then at church. It sounds better when a chorus sings it. And it isn't accompanied by idiotic dancing.
