Ivana Buden shoots at a maximum of 60lbs on her bow, which is the maximum bow poundage allowed for UK target competitions and she really CAN pull 60lbs. Benefits of training in the gym, I daresay.
i shoot Longbow just for fun, Recurve for Distance Between 5 to 50m, and Compound 40 to 130m and yes, i´m a 3D shooter all Type of bow´s have they´r own "Challenge"
she needs to pull through the shot more, and get a more consistant anchor by having her right hand get in behind the jawbone more instead of just floating!
Don't feed the troll, they will only come back to bite you. Anyways, great form and wonderful to see you educating other young women/men about the sport. My niece is 8 and immediately started asking me questions one day when I was watching you and erika's vids for form reference, and now she wants a bow. You guys may not realize how easily you can empower youngsters by taking the time to do these vids. Thanks!
hi nice shooting ive just bought a renagade 70lbs @ 30" compound bow and i am struggling with the beast far too strong for me .my other bow is a 54lbs longbow, and thats fine,is it true there is a maximum draw weight of 60lbs in competitions,if so i will have to find a way of bringing it down a bit, cheers
@motanelu20 hey if you're happy shooting 51lb then all the best with it.
I have been representing australia internationally for 15yrs. i have 11 national titles. i can't say that extra lbs makes much difference. my best in competition was shot with 53lb. but you seriously need to do some research before making such outdated assumptions about women in archery. technique has kind of moved on since the dark ages. biomechanics is rather popular now.
@erikaanear If you can shoot 64 Lbs in a compound and 70 in a recurve then good for you, especially that you have such tight forms... I would imagine a "Small" Amazon to be able to do such a deed....but hey.... maybe I am just outdated :)
@motanelu20 oh i can't shoot 70lb. it was just SPTs. you put thera bands on the recurve to bump the weight for training. you really do need to get out more. Ivana is the Croatian national champion and she shoots 60lb. Jamie is one of the best USA women compounders and she shoots 60lb. The Danish women's champion shoots 60lb. The UK women's champion shoots more than 50lb.
As an archery coach I would suggest increasing the draw length by 0.5-1 inches. This would allow her to bring her draw hand back and bring the shoulder into play more. The string needs to be brought to the face, not drawing to the stop and then taking the face to the string, as this gives a floating rear reference point. imho.
@erikaanear sorry man.. but I really think you are mistaken... did you shoot a 53 LBS... I shoot a 51 and I know how it feels... a woman as her she will not be able to shoot more then... 40....
@motanelu20 lmao.... um I was shooting 63lb at the world target in 2005. I never bothered checking the weight. just figured it was on max so it would be 60lb. the judges weighed it at 63 and i had to take two turns off. seriously messed my ranking round. If you can't shoot more than 51 i would suggest you need to work on your technique. Ivana Buden won a leg of the world cup shooting 60lb and she's tiny. Jamie Van Natta of USA shoots 60lb.
@erikaanear Sorry... but I have colleagues well build that shoots 58 max (a man).... I know it is not allowed to shoot more then 60 LBS at a competition (my couch told me this and he is an International referee) also it is not a problem of technique but an issue of strength... if you are a big person maybe yes... but you are a woman... so really... I not saying you are a liar but I find it very hard to believe you can shoot 63 Lbs ... no disrespect
@motanelu20 you can believe what you like. call Hoyt and ask them what I shoot , since they send me my bows directly. it's all about biomechanics. there's no arm muscle involved. it's all back muscle. and 60lb is not common on the international scene for women, but it's not unheard of. many of the top women shoot 55lb plus. we used to do 70lb spts on the recurve for giggles. if you don't know who Jamie and Ivana are, i'd suggest you could stand to do a little research before dismissing them.
@erikaanear I am not dismissing them.. I was talking about your draw power... if your bow is a 60 Lbs it doesn't mean you shoot 60 you can shoot also 45 with it... I am just looking at you, yes you have a great body, you know very well how to draw you bow and your muscles look amasing in your videos but... I doubt you can draw 63 Lbs.... that's it... I know people that shoot bows for 4-5 years and have won all the prices they could in my country.. they shoot 55-56 Lbs...
Although I rather like shooting with a traditional bow, like the english longbow.
Sure it's harder to hit as good as with the hightech one you used, but it's not impossible. Plus the English longbow looks much better and its more impressive if you can shoot with one.
I'm not saying the Hightech ones are bad, I'm just saying I don't really like them.
HOYT.....isn't the only good bow manufacture, out there you know, i shoot a seb flute bow and it's AWESOME. It's not the quality or make of the bow that takes you forward, it's the quality of the archer.
try traditonal archery. you won't get to hold a longbow bow back for even a quarter of the time that you can hold a compound. and yes i've shot both. and the longbow is my favorite because of the challenge
Actually we shoot compound because we enjoy shooting compound. We also shoot recurve because we enjoy shooting recurve. All bow types present challenges.
I bet though that a longbow can not shoot as hard or as fast as a high end compound bow. Both bows are great and have their fans, but there are pros and cons for BOTH not just one.

You move your head to the string once you've turned your head it should not move ....and the string should come to your reference points

that's the reason to buy a compound, if you are not able to pull a bow back an hold it for some moments, you ned a bow with let off.
