Lasers don't make noise, so to make it more realistic remove the sound alltogether. That would make it a excelent stealth weapon, assuming somebody didn't see the laser beam. But, in a game it would be kind of boring if the laser didn't make any noise. Thats the whole reason why the lasers are not silent. Im sort of talking to you @ShimaHonnou about the realistic thing, the realistic sound for a laser is silence, like I stated above.

The laser in Fallout isn't really light it's an emense energy source that you need special cells to use as ammo and they are heated up A LOT!!!!!

If you do a sound mod, you shoudn't use VATS because it muffles the noise. I do like the magnum, SMG and laser weapon noises.

Concentrated beams of light generate some level of burning. It's like a precision weapon. Ever been attacked by an enemy with a laser weapon in this game? If they miss, usually you'll hear a short TZZT noise.

A powerful enough laser could melt through tank armor until it gets to the driver. It won't go through the tank without damaging it.

Laser shots? No, it won't be possible. For the burning to take place, you need to hold the beam on one spot for some time.

Furthermore, we were talking about the sound of laser. It makes no sense, that light can make any sound. Light is the fastest travelling element there is, and goes far beyond sound in speed. It doesn't fit :O

Why are we arguing, anyway? Or discussing, whatever alias you'd prefer, we're having a disagreement. My point here is that very little in Fallout 3 is real. As far as I know, noone has yet developed a combat weapon that shoots lasers (WOW that sounds so cheesy like that) and used it openly.

And sound is VERY slow compared to light. I believe sounds travels some thousand meters pr/sec., whilst light travels 300.000 KILOMETERS pr/sec. ...

@JBBusch But it's not the same. A lightning bolt is not just light, but an electric ... sort of spark, which holds a LOT of incinerating energy.

Laser IS JUST LIGHT, and the heat generated here, is generated on the impact, where one holds the laser fixed on one point for some time. That can cause a burning :)
