I am not a spider man fan. I do not claim to be one. I enjoyed what i've seen of its work, but i don't follow it that much. However, as a fan of writing, I can safely say that Joe Quesada's actions in making One More Day were beyond insane. He immaturely hijacked the entire series to DESTROY a LOVE, made spidey a 30 year old basement dweller, and to top it off, he didn't even make it interesting. The plot was utterly contrived and absurd. Joe quesada has my infinite and unyielding disrespect.
He loved MJ, but the near-death of May drove him a little looney... everyone deals with death differently. That being said, freaking out over Aunt May is kinda lame since she's died before...
Oh, and a random FYI, they've retconned the retcon. That is, to say, that it was no longer a deal with the devil that made the marriage dissapear. They haven't revealed what it was yet, (But the current writers know, obviously), and it probably has something to do with Doctor Strange.
Well, about that retcon-retcon, its so that the marriage never happened (Which I guess is still due to plot-device-satan (Mephisto)) BUT the whole civil war/undoing anyone knowing Spidey's identity was undone by TBR(To be revealed) means, to the point where even the symbiote doesn't know who he is.... that means it's something VERY strong, considering how close symby was to Spidey.... (Sorry your fav character got ruined. I share your pain. *Points at Gargan-Venom*)

Also now he has meaningless sex with black cat and has drunken one night stands....yes, the guy whom is the best version of a good son-in-law has turned into a mini tony stark....and the newer fans of Spidy grow up with that image now...
hey Time Gem, just wondering if you'd like to do a video on Flash Thompson. Where he started as bully of Peters and where he is now after all these years. Have you read christmas in Faujah? Totaly changed my view of him.
I have not read that, I'll have to find it so I can read it. Flash in my view is sort of a character that evolves into a moral center piece for Peter. By that I mean at first when he is growing up that he makes it so that he wishes he was nothing like Flash, but as they grow older, Peter realizes that Flash is a good person but with some issues much like himself.
The closest thing to a saving grace for this series is that It wasn't so much Pete's decision to do it, MJ talked him into it. There's only way pete would ever make a deal with the Devil, and that's MJ. But that doesn't excuse the rest of the BS.
Brand new day should have opened up with okay they made the deal, Aunt May is alive then gets hit by a bus, MJ is in a loveless marriage with Flash Thompson who became a drunk that beats her. That's what you get for making a deal with the Devil.

But that's one of the things that drive me nuts, there isn't, nor has there ever been, a consequence for the actions for the deal. It just doesn't make sense, nor does it give the deal any meaning. What was in it for Mephisto besides the marriage? Because beings like that want more than what they ask for.
Yeah it's easy to do that, but that's what makes it so fun as well, for discussions such as this. Just to see people's different viewpoints about certain events that happen in these stories. :)

You make some excellent points and we agree 100% my friend.
I loved the JMS/Romita run on spidey. It was one of my fav books.
After OMD I stopped collecting spidey.
Why does marvel not want spidey to grow up? If they want to tell stories of a young PP then they have the ultimates line.

Actually, it wasn't Joe who retconned it. It was the ASM writers, who are actually smart, unlike Joe Q. They too hate OMD.
