  • this would sound terrific as a metal/symphonic remix...

  • Watch out for that awful pink dressed girl... do not ever touch her when you see her in town, run away from her...

You can't kick her out of the party once she "force-joins" you...

Other than that, a great game with great characters and AWESOME hidden quests that you can unlock by memory hacking it.. besides isn't it just cool playing as a vampire gone good?

  • Almost epic as power metal. :D

  • OMFG high quality.

  • 神!

  • I'm playing a translated rom of this and I just closed the first Abyss gate. I like that in this game there is jobs like FF and its actually more roleplaying how your characters will gain their stat boosts depending on how they are used and awesome music of course haha.

  • You can't hate the Bass. Bitches. <3

  • I... am sorry to admit, I'm not fond of this game. I had played the earlier installments on the Gameboy(renamed Final Fantasy Legend), and managed to get a translation patch of this game to play on emulators. The opening scenes look like Chrono Trigger, etc. But once I got into the game, it was this RTS crap, with little tiny sprites running into each other. I always end up losing the second battle and remembering why I quit playing. >.>

Square was right not to localize this series.

  • @outlier1985 someone does not know how to play an rts right then but really this is the only snes game I have played where there really was nothing telling you where to go

  • @emootaku30 I've actually played plenty of RTS games and enjoyed them, but the mechanics they employ for the RTS aspects in this game are a little on the WTF? side. I've had battles where I was clearly winning, then just lost randomly for no real reason.

While I appreciate the open-endedness of the game, I feel they should've left those portions out of the game. And the rest of the game has a very patchy, incomplete feel to me, like they made it from scraps of other games. Just my opinion.

  • @outlier1985 (closes eyes and agrees with what you are saying -_-)

  • @outlier1985 Its nothing like an RTS you moron, there arent even RTS elements to it. You couldn't figure out RS3 because you are fucking dumb.

  • @AntichristDemoncore I'm pretty sure he's talking about the army battles, like in Harid/Mikhail's intros, Farce vs. Stanley, and so on. Those I would say do fit under "RTS" well enough in the sense that they are done in real-time and are strategic. The specific mechanics aren't explained anywhere either--they were probably in the instruction book that, of course, none of us have.

  • @AhziDahaka No real time is when everything happens in real time, in the battles if you dont select your strategy it will stay at that screen forever until something is selected. Also you can't change tactics mid battle and have to wait for your option to appear again. Its turn based but both the turns happen at the same time sort of.

  • @outlier1985 Only one of the characters opening scenes has a strategy battle, and yes it's impossible to know what to do without the manual, I had a Chinese friend who had it and could read it a few years ago.

  • This theme kinda sounds like SaGa Frontier's battle theme. Same series but i'm surprised by how similar the SNES and PS1 compositions are.

  • This is super famicom? AWESOME!!

  • @Metalpaladin Bettah believe it!

  • 00:28 I can't not imagine myself rotating through techniques when I hear this part.

  • One of those most awesome SNES bass right there.

I doubt if anything as badass like this battle theme composed by Square Enix would be this great.

  • @MasterTonberryV1 Agreed. It's so ironic how Squaresoft and Enix both wrote incredible music back in the SNES days, but ever since they've merged their compositions have gone to shit. It's like they totally abandoned what made the 16-bit era music SO AMAZING.

  • @PrimalLight2323 Their compositions AND their games have gone to shit. :(

  • @outlier1985 Yup.. Unfortunately :/

  • @PrimalLight2323 Funny how most of the amazing composers left Square-Enix sooner than later too... Uematsu, Ito, Mitsuda.

  • @PrimalLight2323 Man by the way stop playing game if you can't adapt to new one:(

  • @sayenjack wtf are you talking about?... When did I say ANYTHING about the game? I've been commenting on the music, genius.

  • @PrimalLight2323 Man no need of being agressif ok

    I didnt know

  • @PrimalLight2323 .... I misundertood what you said sorry :(

  • too bad i never released in english,, i played a incomplete hack in english but was not enough :S

  • This game is epic! I love it so much... especially the wierd secondary charaters... Fairy, Elephant, Snowman and Lobsterman...

  • I like this game's music, even though all the songs sound kinda similar. =-)

  • As far as RPG gameplay goes, I think RS3 was really revolutionary. It doesn't converge back to the same old tactics like some other RPGs with weird game mechanics (*cough* Chrono Cross *cough*). I would also say, though, that there were a lot of obvious areas in which the mechanics could have used more tweaking.

  • you mean the ff2-esque leveling system that they used in the game?

  • FF2's leveling system was a strange one that got even stranger if you tried to abuse it to do something as simple as increasing your HP.

  • yeah...

the diffrence i think is that what goes up is random. sometimes hp, sometimes tech, sometimes weapon skill. i guess that's the fun of rs3. plus it never got boring to power-level.

  • But the sad thing, is that RS3 is a step backward for the series when you compare it to the first two. It's a great game, but the first two are superior. It's a real shame that they haven't been translated yet in their original forms.

  • A very good rpg, once you got into it.

  • The SaGa series is very unique, often cast off by the majority, but I love it

Especially the first SaGa frontier. The battle themes are always powerful and climactic...and this one isn't an exception^^

    great choice!!!

  • long live the niche!!

  • Is the Romance Saga on the PS2 the same story and all from the Original Romance Saga released in Japan?

  • Look around the net for it. Seriously. It's a Squareoft game. You'll probably find a fan translation of it in 5 seconds.

  • Are there any English patches to any of these games?

  • This one is in my favorites too, from zapper101's list...

Page 2, same as Omen. You peeked, didn't you? :P

  • Great song mate!

  • This is badass, Mr. Darky. I might have to play this, if it wasn't for the fact that it's Japan-only.

  • oooo loved it ^^

  • These games were never localised, were they? Or did I just completely miss them?

  • Nope, never left Japan! Unfortunately.

  • Well, the great thing about music is that it doesn't need localisation.

  • Agreed - This song alone was enough for me to get into game music imports after buying it at a comic convention back in the day.

  • LOL, I've bought that game on a convention too XDDD but for me it was also my love for Kobayshis Artwork and FFL 2 XD

I am a fan of Kenji Ito's music since Seiken Densetsu 1. ^^

  • That dude did FFAdventure? No wonder I thought this music sounded like Sword of Mana.

  • @CleverDjembe Truer words have never been said.

  • @Babybahamut You can find them fan-translated, though.

  • @nihil1 Romancing Saga 3 has been translated for SNES Emulator so go try it, it's a cool game. I believe they're working on translating 1 & 2 also.

  • @Babybahamut Even if your message is two years old I mgith as well reply.

There is alot of translated rom for the Snes emulator all around you can find one really easily by searching on google.

  • @Babybahamut We only have Romancing Saga for ps2 I think and I liked it. Just as good as the originals

  • @Babybahamut Download the rom of "Romancing Saga 3". It has english translation.
