This just goes to show that no recording can do the CSO's brass true justice. I attended its most recent BTS performance, of La Mer, and the brass just blew me away. It's pretty good in this video, but I can't imagine what they were like live.
Well, are you a member? Maybe even of the Civic Orchestra? I'd love to talk to someone such as yourself, seeing as I'm definitely considering a career in music (I'm a high school senior, you see). It was a brilliant performance. I can listen to it again on the CSO's website, but, as I said, it does the brass no more justice than any other section.
