I hope they don't just tack on Castlevania references and storyline elements. That would ruin this for me. Although my guess is that it was being developed as a CV title all along and the generic "Lords of Shadow" title was simply tentative, and the dev team didn't want to include "Castlevania" in it too early to stay below the radar.

I have a mixed feeling with the 3D castlevanias. I LOVED Legacy of Darkness, liked Lament of Innocence and ABSOLUTELY HATED the generic Curse of Darkness.

I really hope these new guys know how to put magic sealed doors, stairs and gloomy rooms .....and not the generic square shaped zones of COD.

All said, I look forward to this game.

Mercury Steam Studios are developing this title in Madrid Spain, as the did with Jericho, Scrapland and, before being called MS, Blad (of Darkness). This is a new game for Konami. I think, a GoW killer. Maybe this time, they try harder with Xbox 360 version and don´t invert more on PS3, because that was what killed Jericho outside Spain. It was better on PS3 with no reason but marketing.

but in another trailer, it shows a pic of a cliff with a castle on it, in the icy northern (Scandanavia?). Not to mention it showed a Sorcerer with black wings summoning crows, that can only resemble one demon, the 4th boss malphas (DoS boss that gives double jump) Which also summons crows and looks like a sorcerer with black wings. and if im not mistaken, the mask thing looks alot like the mask carmilla wears, death is more connected with dracula. She had to revive herself some way. (fanboys?)

Well, I've read that some fans think that by taking up the power of teh Lords of Shadow -as the other trailer says- Gabriel becomes Dracula. Also, does anybody think that this might be slightly inspired by Van Helsing? The lead's named "Gabriel", looks like VH, and VH was similar to Castlevania. Just wondering.

unless it is a spin off and not part of the main series, then no. Dracula was always the same person until he was forced to be reincarnated as Soma. Anyway I am more looking forward to the Alucard game that is supposed to be in the process of being made

You know Van Helsing is a character from the orignal Dracula novel written in 1897, right? The original Castlevania and every incarnation of the Belmont family has been inspired by the Van Helsing character.
