@Austinbolton7 The company was R. Hay & Son Trucking, which closed its doors in 2009. R. Hay & Son Trucking started in 1969. Two to four loads a day -- that's a lot of loads. Thanks for watching the video.
Probably not...was forced into an early retirement..didn't want to go but no one will hire a guy in his sixties with 40 years work experience..they all want a man 24, with 30 years experience that will work 24/7 for minimum wages.....and when living in Southern Arizona you have to compete with half the population of Mexico for a minimum wage job....not a good place to be...
@raginroadrunner Sorry to read times are tough down there. If you were up here you'd land a driving job. As for the Mexico/USA boarder, I've seen the problem on television. Compete is an understatement. Best of luck.
@CR250R40 ..Southern Arizona, especially {Phoenix, Maricopa County) is the largest combat zone in the free world. It is unsafe to go anywhere at any time. I carry a concealed weapon no matter where I go. You have to watch young children every second of every minute. Killings, shootings, rape, child molestation, kidnapping and in the last 1 and 1/2 years three Police Officers gunned down by illegal Mexicans. It is hell on earth. Be glad you are Canadian. We protect the criminals.
what are these guys grossing??? in the US we could not go over 85000lbs..could not make it pay and as a result most of us went broke..you guys are lucky to work where the tree huggers are shot on sight.
@raginroadrunner Hi Raginroadrunner, The maximum allowable gross weight on a tridem axle unit, as you see in the video, is 41000 kg [90900 lbs]. Sorry to read most of you went broke trying to make a living in forestry. Hope there are better years ahead.
Thats pretty cool. Just gettin into driving a log(ging) truck myself. Completely different from the dump trucks I'm used to! Lovin it so far!! Great pics! Thanks.
@Fireheart528 4-season weather. June usually starts the summer halls. June is mostly dry, few rain showers, 26 C or 82 F. July/ August run a touch higher,.31 C or 87 F. Little rain.
Fall is 20 C or 68 F. Rain. Winter is very snowy.. 3' or greater, depending. It's cold... temps average -15 C or 5 F. This cold weather runs until late February. March usually is the month thawing starts. Spring break-up runs from Late March until June -- hence no hauling... or very "little" hauling.
have'nt seen tree length in a long time. and its green! we log cut to length. all pine beetle kill. nice pics. keep safe winter is back! your fellow BC logger. mountaincruise
Thanks for watching my video of logging in British Columbia, Canada. I've watched all your videos and what terrific videos they are. My father enjoys your vids, too. Great conversation pieces. Wagner's are very cool machines. Have always enjoyed their powerful look ever since seeing my first in the mid 1970s. Wishing you a great 2010. Have fun driving Wagner's and please be safe. Cheers.
ts the way to go.i drive one of these off highway and a pole trailer as you see is great in tight corners as the trailer follows the truck around better.nice video
Wish Ontario was smart enough to go Tridem/Tridem. We can license up to 63500 kgs , plis 10% in the winter feeze up, on a 5 axel trailer with tandem truck provided the wheel base is long enough. The trailer uses 2 air lift axels which just love to freeze brakes up a skid the tires off.
That just seem to make more sense. Come 2015 we won't be able to lift the center air axels from the cab and they will have to be steering axels to get our full gvw. I can just see those wheels mis aligned always
B.C. will be lucky to have a timber industry come 2015. Good luck with the new regulations imposed for Ontario. Sounds rough. I appreciate and understand your concern. Wishing you an easy winter. Stay safe.
Thank you for the nice compliment. I'm happy you enjoyed the video. Up here in British Columbia, Canada, we're in winter season. Lots of snow. Soon spring... as the thaw has started. Cannot wait for summer heat.
Your country is very beautiful and wish I was there vacationing.
how do you liek the air system you got on your tires. my uncle hauls logs well owns a loggin show and he doesnt have that set up but says that it works liek a hot damn. just wondering how it works
I'm the son of the driver. Thanks for responding to the video. My father truly can do without the air system. He's driven 45-plus years and prefers things to be less technical. The air lines have their problems -- leaks, freeze, computer probs, they catch things..... the result is severance, etc. Air then escapes. Repairs must be made before moving the truck.
However, it works -- better in some conditions than others. But it does work.
The air lines (you see) connect to the 12 rear tires on the tractor. Through gizmoes and connections air is provided to those tires. This allows tire pressure to rise & fall at the drivers will. Lowering pressure gives the tire(s) a wider tread grip aka footprint where the rubber meets the road base. Increased traction this way. Good for soft earth, and for road regulations. When the wide grip no is longer needed, at a touch the tires return back to a specified pressure -- easier rolling.
Ahh...so it does snow in B.C. Here in Northern Michigan winter turns the land to a frozen hell. Its cool, but it has its draw backs! Canadian cold fronts all the time plus Lake effect snow=way to much snow to handle. Anyway, this was definately 5:46 of well spent time. Thanks.
Yes, it does snow here. TOO much for my liking. You obviously know the troubles snow causes. Much better to have everything frozen -- early Dec. - Feb. -- even thought anything "winter" is a downright headache.
I watch Detroit news daily. Have a friend in Southfield. Michigan is beautiful. Pretty lively state, too. Will visit one day. Gotta love Mopars & GM muscle cars.
Thanks for the praise. Much appreciated. (Wish I could put music with the pix for better viewing.)
Ya I was wondering about the snow, because I know people who live their and they say it doesnt snow much. Although they do live in the south of B.C. Michigans cool, but the economy is TERRIBLE right now.
Your words are perfect. Thank you for your kind words. It would be nice to visit your country -- so much beauty and history. Hope your wish to visit Canada is fulfilled. When you arrive I hope Canada is everything you hope it to be. Wishing you a happy Autumn.
Thanks for the praise. If I could redo the movie I would put music to it. Makes for better viewing. My next movie will have music. Thanks again for watching.
How many loggers are fighting for their lives due to a work place injury's.
I would guess in the thousands.
The logging industry reports more on job deaths then any other industry. Help support injured workers and help change laws that force injured workers family's into poverty and destroy lives.
Finland has some nice high-tech equipment. Makes the workday less trying.
End of February, the Okanagan logging industry slows, more so shuts down for Spring Breakup. Few trucks haul. Highways & roadways are too susceptible to damage.
May or June are the months logging starts up again in the Okanagan mountains.
We're experiencing an early Spring. Possibly an early return to work.
Thanks for the compliment. Hope you have a great year of driving ahead of you.

I sure miss the Okanagan seeing these pics. My Dad was a faller in the Lumby area and my Granfather helped carve the logging roads in the Sugar Lake area, He also had a small mill there in the early days.
The Okanagan has been home to my family since 1956. My father's first logging job was in the Sugar Lake area in '58. Worked for a small mill.
So many small mills back then. Times have changed.
I miss the mills & equipment of old. My favorite equipment to watch -- grapple loaders & choker-style skidders. They had such a powerful look. Unstoppable.
Glad these pix brought back good memories.

More and more outfits are changing to short loggers. It will be rare to see tree lengths as we once had.
Plenty of beetle kill around this area, too.
