One very important detail is the fact that the fishing industry is heavily subsidized worldwide thus creating artificial prices that do not represent the availability of the rsource, in a true Free Enterprise un subsidized price system fish would be but a luxury item by now, point is it would have never gotten to the level it has. Failed Keynesian policies must come to an end
Save the Bluefin tuna from imminent extinction! Save all marine life! We cannot blame anyone but ourselves the consumers. Eat less seafood or only Buy seafood with a MCS label. We are overexploiting our ocean's precious resources.sign the petition for marine reserves on the greenpeace website! Everyone can change the world ,including YOU! Thumbs up to keep this at the top
i can already imagine fishermen, ocean activists and CEOs of large fishing industries standing and just staring at a vast ocean depleted of any fish in 2048
somethings gotta be done, and its gotta be done fast
A couple of days, I was explaining to my friends about how we depend on the ocean so much, and it's being depleted and it's going to severly affect the planet. They all gave me skepticism, called me crazy. It's sad. No one takes this stuff seriously. We are seeing the decline of the modern world. Hell, maybe even the entire planet. All I know is things are going downhill and most everyone has turned a blind eye. We may as well have one last hoorah and go out with a bang. End of the world party!
Only 1% of the worlds oceans are protected and they are mostly on coast lines.
Fish Farming wont work, the fish farming going on today is killing more then it produces.. and 40% of the fish caught are just to feed other fish.
I know about this because i have been studing it all year in science. Its really influenced the way i eat and being more on the look out of what fish to eat. i hope the governments do something soon otherwise we wont have any fish left.
Damn!! I been trying to tell folk about this problem, but everyone just wants to cry about the whales. I like my salmon fillets, but I might have to switch to catfish, bass, bluegill, and crappie from now on.
Too many fishermen have convinced themselves, against all evidence and reason, that the supply of fish is limitless and that fishing bans and limitations are imposed on them out of pure spite. They claim that fish are as abundant as ever, even as it takes them twice as long to catch half as many undersized fish. Just remove all limits. If they're so determined to destroy their own livelihood, let them.
Fish farms are the answer though, but the ocean will be virtually fish devoid. so its just saying that fish in the oceans are gone but not the fish itsself
we whatched this in our yr 8 geography lesson 2dayy ,, it was well sad ,, we was learning about commercial fishing and fish farms! whitch do you fing is better for the fish?

Commercial fishing obviously has a bigger impact on the lives and future of other species but all forms of fishing is cruel and unnecessary.

The documentary makers state.
"The End of the Line is not against fishing. It is not against eating fish. But it is for a responsible attitude towards the oceans."
However, I am against this cruel and barbaric trade. Killing animals is completely immoral and NEVER justifiable.
I would trust years worth of research and studies by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organisation over 1 fisherman's opinion any day.
