Beautiful pics!! I've rescued 4 Berners in the past 7 years. Have 2 of them now and they are the best. Mags is a big pushover (100 lbs plus) and my most recent rescue. He weighed 70 lbs at time of rescue and scared of so many things. He now climbs on the sofa and in bed with us, flops down, rests his head wherever and gives a big sigh; like saying, "man, it's good to be forever home." Can't help but love them.

They have a double coat which helps keep them cool during summer. We have just moved to Melbourne and Oscar had his first strip to the snow - he wouldn't get out of car and wouldn't step in any puddles.
As you can probably tell from the pics he doesn't spend a lot of time outside. Why would you when you have heating during the winter and cooling during the summer. Yep - one spoiled dog..
They are a fantastic dog. We have belonged to the Mountain Dog Club in 2 different states of Australia so have met more than 100 of these. They are all so similar. Great dog with kids - so long as they are not too small - the Bernese forget how big they and their tails are and have a little habit of knocking little ones over. But ever so gentle :) Oscar just loves our cats as well. They are nicknamed the leaning dog because they do literally lean on you when they sit next to you.
@Spamazoid That is so sad. I had to put mine down just before she turned 3 from terminal cancer.I miss my Breezy girl.I have 2 videos of her on youtube. I found a lot of nice understanding people with Berners on here.Sorry about your doggie.

Great slide show!! It's amazing how fast they grow. Too fast. We have an adult female Berner, a younger male Berner and a Berner/Great Pyrenees adult male. They are the best dogs I have ever owned. We also have two non mountain dogs and they refuse to interact with the Berners. We can't figure it out because our Berners are so friendly and playful.
he is so adorable, i have always loved bernese mt dogs, and i finally got one of my own a month ago, we got her from a pet store, she was 4 months old when i bought her shes now 5 months old, and i couldnt be happeir, we named her jessy, and she loves to cuddle with me and follow me everywhere
in the future, never ever get a dog from a pet store, specially a bernese...reputable breeders and u stop supporting puppy mills. hope u know what they are. no good breeder that care abotu their dogs will EVER sell to a puppy store.

Hey, thanks for the comments. I live in Vancouver B.C. We had a LOT of snow :S Madison and Charlie loved it! And I know what you mean, we had to get a bigger couch just so they could join us while we watched our drama shows.

Oscar is such a stunning dog. I've always wanted a Berner of my own, but I'm quite happy with my lovely collie at the moment. Dogs are such joyful companions.
My first dog was a beautiful tri-colour Collie. We had him for 14 wonderful years - I never thought I would get over him. Oscar as a puppy looked so similar.
we have lots of pictures, but haven't made a video yet! we'll have to work on it. perth looks beautiful. my son is travelling to australia in the spring. will have to tell him to keep an eye out for some berners. last year, while on vacation in the netherlands, i saw a woman walking her berner. missing bentley so much, i ran after them in the park just to say hello...to her dog!!
