  • The guy with the toughest job on this song is the bass player. Wish they showed more of his speed bass.

  • My fave Cure song!!!

  • robert's got a really nice arse

  • a lot of energy here, punk rockers!!!

  • I've been Playing this Song back 2 back....=D

  • A GEM! Thanks for posted =)

  • I LOVE young Robert so much <3

  • such a fucking great band and I love this song.

  • I know that videos of live performances tend to focus on the singer, but in this case they didn't spend nearly enough time showing us the bass player as he was performing. He had the toughest job, give him some props by showing him shred.

  • the cure é muito massa simplesmente essa musica outras musicas tbm sao legais como lullaby boys don t cry fire in cairo e etc..

  • СУпер на них учились наши советские рокеры

  • So good...

  • This video oughta have more fucking views!

  • Its weird for me, as someone born long the cures early days, to see robert smith without mussed up hair and makeup.

  • @lladsbid

...and in a 3 piece band, too.

  • perfect!!!!!!!

  • One of my favourite Cure songs, *thanks* ! :)

  • it's a good thing

  • my dad showed me this song i love the bass its somewhat challenging but extremely fun and really catchy i love it <3 :D

  • I do so love this song!! There is such true meaning behind this song !! One thing I have always respected about The Cure is that they write music of what they feel and if you like them you do, if you dont then whatever. They play their music because they love what they do. They have never been sell outs and I respect that. The Cure is a phenomenal band of whom I have loved for 24 years now and it will never change. An excellent band for all time indeed!! The Cure Forever!! <3

  • I think robert's voice was better in old days...

but...still The Cure its my favorite band :)

  • This is actually from October 1980. The Cure appeared on a Dutch TV program called Jaap Eden Hal. "Grinding Halt" was only one of the songs The Cure performed.

  • @1969Brookie Any idea if there is a dvd with this gig or the gig in Boston underground 1980? Still looking for it!

  • BRRRRR!!!! Looks like it's a bit nippy there.

  • This is soooo awesome. This is one of my favorite Cure songs. LOVE THIS. Thank you so much for posting.

  • by far the best "grinding halt" video on you tube.

  • I NEED those bass TABS, the bassline sounds so great!

    Great song!

  • Why do you need bass tabs? Just ear them. Not like Simon is doing Geddy Lee!

  • @Mstar82

Next month I'll upload my videos with all the bass lines from the "Three Imaginary Boys" album

  • @bassnicola great! actually I am able now to play this version of Simon Gallup but it will be still cool! JSET is the next song I wanna be able to play, maybe you can help me out with your cover!

    cheers!

  • Is that Simon Gallup? If not its from 1978/1979, I guess.

But I can't really say.. If I look at Robert's look, then I'd say maybe 1979, or 1981 (he looks similar in the Other Voices music clip so thats why..)

In 1980 his hair is short (look at the A Forest and the Play For Today video).

  • great song

    remminds of better days

  • nice classic video, when was this?
